The War on Terror is based on the premise that the 2001 9/11 attacks on New York and Washingotn, which killed nearly 3,000 people were carried out by 19 Islamic fundamentalist men. The official story has been played in such detail throughout our media that we will all know it. But the facts could be - and probably are - radically different.

A recent Channel 4 programme looked at The 9/11 Conspiracies to give an overview of some alternative views of what really happened. It broached a number of the main ideas but it was, essentially, a puff piece for the official story (the American 9/11 Commission Report came out this July) and it supports the common view that a "conspiracy theory" is one to be binned. I, however, prefer Michael Moore's comment "I dislike all conspiracy theories - except the ones which are true." Having clocked up a few hundred hours now looking at evidence on the internet, while getting bored doing a master's dissertation, I believe at the very least there is culpable US government complicity in the events of 9/11. The official story demands the public believe hundreds of dramatic but unlikely items. I believe it happened not only quite differently to the official story, but remarkably differently. Where FOUR fanatics' flights freely fly? It is routine policy and practice for fighter jets to intercept planes if they go off course even by 2 miles. In the year prior to 9/11 there were 67 such intercepts. A "stand down" order must have been given to prevent any "official" intercepts that day. Rumour has it Vice President Dick Cheney gave this order, and knows exactly what happened on 9/11.

Any of these 4 flights would normally be intercepted and escorted through some of the busiest airspace (and best defended) in the world. The 9/11Commission Report (9/11CR) blames the FAA (civilian) for not telling NORAD (the military) quickly enough. It says it was too late for fighter planes to intercept them but neglects to say that these jets can do 1800 miles per hour, much faster than 500mph Boeing 757s and 767s! It pretends all the way that the FAA alone has appropriate radar, whereas in reality NORAD has far superior radar and without doubt tracked these flights throughout. NORAD has the responsibility for shooting down enemy missiles at many times the speed of sound, let alone a slow hijacked Boeing, which could be taken out even at the last minute by a single anti-aircraft missile. And are we supposed to believe the Pentagon is unprotected?! It would appear military exercises were going on that day which conveniently helps cloud the issue. The 9/11CR does not admit to a "stand down" order, nor NORAD's advanced radar. Mobile (cell) phone calls were reported from passengers aboard different flights. How can this be, given that numerous experts say this is impossible unless the plane is on the ground (though possibly up to 7000 feet..), but certainly not at speed, 500mph plus, and certainly not at 35,000 feet? This implies all reported cell calls are highly suspect. The 9/11CR does not question any of the calls that day. (Airfones built into the back of the seats are a separate issue again. But also interesting!)

9 alleged "Hijackers" are still alive 9 of the "hijackers" are still alive! That is, they were never aboard the planes! These men actually own the names and faces and dates of birth that the FBI put on its website within 48 hours of the attack. And we are supposed to believe the most advanced intelligence service in the world knew nothing about this attack? The men have spoken out saying they are alive and innocent: they are Khalid Al-Mihdhar, Waleed M. Al-Shehri, Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Mohand Al-Shehri, Abdul Aziz Al-Omari and Salem Al-Hazmi, Marwan al-Shehhi, Wail M. Al-Shehri, Ahmed Al-Nami.

Ameer Bukhari - also accused - had died a year prior! Were any hijackers aboard? The airlines are not saying they were on the original passenger lists. The so-called hijackers were also reported as being lousy pilots by flight schools. One said "I doubt they could even drive a car." They could not have done the flying. Mohammad Atta himself may also still be alive. It is widely reported Atta's passport was (conveniently) found some blocks from the World Trade Center. (This was actually the passport of Satam al-Suqami, another accused.)

What if there were no hijackers.. Since the 1950s the Dept. of Defense (NORAD) has been flying older jet fighters by remote control and using them for target practice. This means 5 decades of remote control flying technology - not commonly known about. Earlier in 2001 a plane called the Global Hawk was flown from California to Australia from take-off to touchdown all by remote.

The technology also exists to remotely hijack an aircraft from a suitable ground station or AWACS aircraft. Whether a Boeing hit the Pentagon at all is also highly disputed. It was, perhaps, something smaller like a cruise missile. Whatever it was left an 18 foot hole. (The damage looked bigger after a crane knocked the wall down!) The 9/11CR says the wings folded and went inside. Contrast this with the slash right across the WTC buildings, themselves 208 foot wide. There is not categoric evidence of a Boeing or of human (passenger) remains at the Pentagon site, and some witnesses say they saw two planes. The FBI took away local CCTV footage immediately, and say all the remains are in a warehouse but secret and inaccessible. So what exactly did happen to the original planes? The German ex-foreign minister says keep looking, because no way did happen like we are being told.
