Poetry - Tigers, Tigers Burning Bright By Joe Hakim Tigers Return Gallery by Matt Rudd
|
|
They say pride comes before a fall
but when our backs are against the wall
we have the strength to pull us through.
At the end of the M62
but at the beginning of our prime,
this is our moment, this is our time,
into the light from out of the dark,
from Hessle Road to Orchard Park,

Music Reviews - Thursday 26th June 08 - Divine Sinn at Winston Churchills, Driffield By Steve Rudd Photographs by Matt Rudd
|
|
Back playing in their hometown just a few days after their first gig in Leeds,
Divine Sinn managed to attract the Metal-loving masses in their droves,
despite the biblical deluge pounding the streets outside.
Mixing and matching material from both their debut album, Redemption, and their forthcoming follow-up,
The Seven Deadly Sinns, they energetically roared through

Reviews, Theatre - Wednesday 19th March 08 - The Bat Trilogy at Hull New Theatre By Steve Rudd Photos by Matt Rudd
|
|
Back in black and ready to rock the venue from the rafters to its foundations,
Steve Steinman vaulted into an epic rendition of Life is A Lemon without delay,
the incredible power of his vocal delivery reaching the row furthest from the stage with ease.
I should know: that's where I was sat, yet the sights and sounds even from back there were to be savoured.
Having mimicked Meatloaf for almost twenty years now, Steve Steinman's

It's been a long time since Metal fans in Driffield have had a band to call their own.
Too long, in fact. So, thank the devil for new quartet Divine Sinn.
Not to be confused with Swedish rockers Divine Sin, Driffield's
Divine Sinn have been practicing hard for the past seven months
in anticipation of performing live, with this being their first

Music Reviews - Thursday 25th May 06 - The Beautiful South at The City Hall with support from Aberfeldy By Michelle Dee Photographs by Matt Rudd
|
|
Yesterday was a very special day. Around five o'clock on Thursday evening, I was listening to
The Beautiful South sound check.
The hall was a hive of activity with technicians climbing rope ladders to the gantries,
erecting barriers at the front of the hall, and making ready for the first TBS gig
at the city centre venue for over 16 years.
I listened to the band running

|
The third round of the BTRDA took place last as part of the
Wold Construction North Humberside Forest Rally.
The rally kicked off at the Jarvis Hotel in Willerby then a long road section to
Gale Rigg for the first stage of the event.
The weather of the previous day and night before the event would be decisive
throughout the event with the stages being extremely wet and slippery.

As usual the Robin Hood Rally was split into 2 main categories; the

As well as having many stages on the Sunday, the Historic event also had 3 night
stages on the Saturday.
The Historic event was the opening round for this year's British Historic Rally Championship

Sports, Rally - The Riponian Stages Rally 2006 - Sunday 5th February 06 By Matt Rudd
|
|
My first gravel event of the year, like last year, was on the Riponian Stages Rally which this year
took place on Sunday 5th of February.
The event had a total of 14 stages with a mixture of gravel and tarmac on the stages.
Like last year I was once again on the 2 Riccal Dale stages throughout the event.
The rally did have a good entry - maybe not in terms of numbers,

The rallying year for me started even earlier in 2006 with my first event of the year on 15th January.
The Jack Frost Rally was held at the Croft race circuit were we had been roughly three
weeks earlier for the Christmas Stages.
The rally attracted lots of big names including, Christmas Stages winner Tony Bardy in his

Sports, Rally - The Christmas Stages Rally - Tuesday 27th December 05 By Matt Rudd
|
|
The 2005 Christmas Stages Rally was held on 27th December.
The rally itself was all based at the legendary Croft race circuit near
Darlington (North Yorkshire).
Unfortunately, I wasn't there for the whole of the rally due to snow (mainly in East Yorkshire).
This was actually the first time I had ever been to a tarmac event in the 4
years I have been spectating, the nearest I

Sports, Rally - The 2005 Malton Forest Rally By Matt Rudd
|
|
This years Malton Forest Rally took place on the 11th of December
which was, for me, a great way to spend my birthday.
This year it was the 3rd running of the event which was created in 2003 to replace
the Dalby Gravel Sprint.
The rally consisted of 9 stages at 3 different locations which meant each stage
was repeated 3 times with slight modifications for each run

Sports, Rally - 19th - 22nd November 05 - Roger Albert Clark Rally 2005 By Matt Rudd
|
|
The Roger Albert Clark (November 19th-22nd) is probably one of the most well known events
in the British rally calendar.
Last year the rally was resurrected by the Delacy Motor Club and following a great success,
the rally returned once again this year.
And with a stage at Bramham Park near Leeds on day 2 of the 4 day rally spectacular, I just had to attend.

Sports, Rally - The Hamsterley Forest Rally 2005 - 13th November By Matt Rudd

|
The Hamsterley Forest Rally, only in its second year after its cancellation last year for lack of
entries, returned back on the 13th November.
The event itself was all based within the Hamsterley Forest complex, near Bishop Auckland
in County Durham.
The rally attracted a great entry; just slightly over 100 cars had entered which was the events maximum entry.
Top names entered in the

Sports, Rally - The 2005 Rainworth Skoda Dukeries Rally - Saturday 18th June By Matt Rudd
|
|
The Dukeries Rally, like the North Humberside which was my last rally,
is a round of the BTRDA rally championship.
The rally took place on June the 18th which was one of the hottest days of the year which meant for the competitors lots of dust. The rally was based at Mansfield while most of the stages were in the Sherwood Forest complex.

Music Reviews - Tuesday 5th July 05 - REM at Hull KC Stadium By Steve Rudd photos by Matt Rudd & SMC
|

The quality of weather couldn't really have been any worse for what is essentially
deemed as being the height of summer, but the relentless rain failed to dumb down most people's spirits.
Unfortunately, myself and (some of) my family arrived late at the venue.
One of my brothers, Martyn (who has long been the biggest REM fan in the family,
and who is almost

Music Reviews - 6th June 05 - Brian McFadden at Hull City Hall By Matt Rudd
|
|
Brian Mcfadden is obviously very well known in the music world with his success
within the boy band Westlife.
But unfortunately for girls everywhere, Westlife split up.
However, this wasn't the end for Brian; he went on to become, well, a rock star.
And on June 6th he came to the Hull City Hall and I was there as Steve (my brother)
had won some tickets

Sports, F1 - Motor Racing - How Pathetic! By Matt Rudd
|
|
I have always been a fan of motor sport, whether it was Rallying , Moto GP or Formula One.
However on Sunday it was the US Formula One Grand Prix.
To be honest this was the most pathetic race I have ever seen, instead of about 20 cars
on the starting grid only 6 came onto the track these were the 2 Minardi's , Jordan's
and Ferrari's.

The Kall Kwik rally based at Pickering in North Yorkshire is always one of
those events where it is almost like summer time; warm and sunny.
