Were You Born on 12th November 1989? Channel 4 Needs You!

Channel 4 is making a high profile documentary about what it means to be a teenager in 21st Century Britain. The feature-length film follows 8 very different teenagers as they all celebrate their 16th birthdays on the same day.

Channel 4 is looking for the 1,697 15 year-olds who were born on the 12th November 1989, to represent Britain's teens in a nationwide survey and possibly the documentary.
16 For A Day - A Channel 4 documentary about teen life
If you, or anyone you know, was born on this day contact us to be part of the film, and be part of defining your generation.

The consent of your parent or carer will be needed if you are chosen to appear in the programme

Are you working with any 15 yr olds born on 12th November 1989?
16 For A Day is designed to cut through the stereotypes and labels that many teens suffer, providing instead an honest and genuine portrait of teenage Britain. Above all, this is a rare opportunity for young people themselves to speak out on what's important to them - their attitudes, aspirations and concerns.

Please check to see if you're working with any young people born on 12th November 1989 - and if so, contact Channel 4 so we can make sure they receive information about the project, and how they might be involved.
As an added incentive, everyone who takes part in the anonymous survey will be entered into a draw to win one of 3 iPod Nanos.

This high profile Channel 4 Education project is hoped will provide a genuine and honest portrait of teenage Britain, representing teenagers with all types of life experiences - from those who are worrying about their GCSE history coursework, bitchiness at school or rehearsals for their dance show or church choir, to those who are facing bigger issues of bullying, depression, inappropriate housing accommodation, or crime.
But above all, we hope that this will be a very inspirational film and survey that cuts through the stereotypes of Kevin the Teenager or binge-drinking yobs or ASBO teens, instead showing that teens aren't a different species altogether, by giving a voice to the young people themselves.

If you know of any young people born on 12th November 1989, please contact Jo on 020 7284 6877 or email jo@rawtelevision.co.uk.

Album Reviews - The Departure - Dirty Words (Parlophone)
By Steve Rudd
Fit to bursting with a few of the coolest tunes of recent years, there are three past single releases from this Northampton-nurtured band gracing this eleven-track album in the form of the uber-catchy All Mapped Out, Be My Enemy and Lump In My Throat. This album has been far too long in coming, but the wait has been more than worth it, as The Departure continue to set the Read more...

Opinions - Mark Pollard's Response to a Couple of Hull's Blinkered Critics
Well, Channel 4's rubbish programme the other week (I can't even be arsed to mention it's name any more) certainly resulted in the odd fucknut blowing the cobwebs from their PC keyboard and jumping onto that bitter little bandwagon, didn't it? You want to know what's the worst thing about Hull? It's that, like any other city, it has it's fair share of these types - the sort of Read more...

Opinions - MP Diana Johnson Uninspired by Hull By David Sloan
Hull MP Diana Johnson thinks prisoners should be allowed to vote. If she went on the streets of Hull and asked the people what they thought I'm sure she would get a very different answer. She was inspired, she says by a former inmate John Hirst, who served a life sentence for manslaughter. He mounted a legal challenge saying depriving him of his vote was against his human rights. He is now free, Read more...

Reviews, Books - Lost Souls by Michael Collins

We only live once. I don't think we ever really confront that until it's too late. Understandably shortlisted for the Booker Prize, Lost Souls is not your average mystery-thriller novel, with this engrossing 'whodunnit' focusing on a small-town cop trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious death of a three-year-old girl. The prime suspect is the local football star, Read more...
