Bridlington Harbour
Day at the beach
By Petra
|
|
This Sunday I was spoilt for choice - either to visit a Buddhist centre in "Kilham" or attend
a strawberries and cream party. Opted to go and find Zen so duly arrived with my offspring
(Katie and Oliver) at my friend's house punctually (for a change) at 11.30.
|
|
Oh what a glorious day spread ahead of us!
The sarnies and drink were packed (economy must be considered) and all children and adults present and correct.
Here's a map courtsey of

Ever heard of the chaos theory?! Two cars were mobilised but for some strange reason only Arthur C Clarke could fathom, all the kids wanted to travel in only one car. However being safety conscious (we may do a site for Humberside Police) and multiple tantrums, only Mo, Petra, Susan, Katie and Oliver ended up going.

|
Due to my exquisitely perfect map directions we duly arrived at Kilham only to find that we had arrived ahead of Buddha. No such centre existed.

Three hungry children - a very hot day - and where to go?
Got to be the beach. So off to Bridlington we headed.
We decided on the North beach, being the quieter of the two. Oliver and Susan stripped off immediately and dived into the freezing North Sea. Katie (being 13) and wearing expensive trainers, sat on the sea wall and wouldn't entertain a grain of sand.

Next was the newly purchased Frisbee. I'm hopeless. A poodle was nearly decapitated. I must remember a dog is not just for sadistic aerial games, it's for life.
Children were buried and ice-creams guzzled. All in all Zen had gone to the beach.

Places to Visit - On the Moors By Steve Rudd

So much for me confiding to people that I thought we were collectively out of the woods
and that Spring was just around the corner.
Clearly I spoke too soon and paid for such a misdemeanour yesterday
(13th February 2005) when I ventured up onto the

Art Gallery - By Local Artist Patrick Henry
|
|
I became a self-taught painter at the age of 36 when living in a mediaeval
village in the French Dordogne.
Post-Impressionism had been my favourite kind of art for long before that.
I think it has a basic relevance that will never be exhausted.
Renaissance paintings are also very
