Coming Up Music Live Bands
Wednesday 1st September
Under the Influence at The Adelphi, Hull

Beats for Beginners - new signing to Manchester's Faith and Hope label; home of Mint Royale.

Beats for Beginners have just released their debut album to critical acclaim from all works of publications.

NME claimed they were .. the most progressive thing in music at the minute.. with The Independent stating they are the UK's answer to the scissor sisters (is that a good thing?).
The band has previously been described as The Beatles with Cat Stevens and Noel Gallagher singing along.

This one-off Hull date is a warm up for a show in Manchester 2 nights later, seeing the band support Badly Drawn Boy.

Support is from the Bonnitts and Breakeven with entrance £3.50. Doors 8pm.

Music Reviews - Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 19th August - 5678's, 59 Violets and The Morphines By Andy Dykes
I've heard tonight's openers The Morphines described as something like Ian Curtis singing with The Clash. If my musical arithmetic is correct, then The Morphines should sound something like Sham 69. And they do. A bit. While the garage rock revival grips the world like nuclear war, The Morphines hark back to an era Read more...

Music Reviews - HarriWatts Band Comin' Out Party At The Lamp Wednesday 4th August By Jane Foster
This is the first time I've really seen the Harri Watts band properly. I did in theory see them at the Lamp once before, at the Cracktown Christmas Carol last year. But that was after several flagons of fine ale and much good cheer, with a bit of rubber chicken abuse thrown in. A perfect night in my book, Read more...
