Cicaeda and Caruso at The Adelphi - 20th April 04

Cicaeda and Caruso schmavved in 'Ull continued
By Michelle Dee
Continued from
When the group came off the stage they left their drummer brooding. He sat behind his drums looking bemused rolling a cigarette. He sat thinking where did everybody go, what did I do?
David is currently reading Bardo Thodol the Tibetan book of the dead so perhaps he was sat carefully planning his own demise..

I for one hope not. He is a great guy and a talented drummer but above all that he is so interesting to talk to.

He surprised me when I asked him what he thought of Hull. He said he loved the history of the place and the fact it is an old port town.

He could sense the salty tang in the air and the scurvy dogs below.
He even told me something about a skull being found from the 1500s in hull and there now being a bar/pub on the site of the discovery.

Anyone out there give me any more details? I'm a bit lost on this one. I have been here for nigh on ten years he'd blown in that same morning. Go figure!
When he was fetching the amps for the gig at the Adelphi he walked down a nearby street where two couples across the street from each other were arguing.

The word Bollocks floated delicately on the night air and it reminded him of home in the Appellation town of Hampden, a hillbilly sort of town with in breeding and other unsavoury activities.
Adriana with her electric blue nail varnish runs a jewellery shop in Baltimore city when she is not performing.(Watch this space for details of online facilities) She is currently reading You Can't Win by Jack Black, he's just some bum by all accounts.

The last record she bought was Ethiopiques music from Ethiopia. These galls are chockfull of surprise.
Beth our beautiful bassist last read The wonderful adventures of Mrs. Mary Sea Cole in many lands. As well as being a fab bass player she is wonderfully warm.

I wonder if she is the calming influence in the group.

Rob (pictured below) our girly guitarist tells me he used to record the BBC World Service when the local station had closed down for the night.
Apparently the vast majority of Americans are kept in the dark about the events in the rest of the world.

And although George Bush is said to be supported by half the country, I have it on good authority that this is not the case at all.

"Even football moms in the suburbs are asking who the hell is this guy, oh yeah they're really pissed."
Matt Debellis or orphan boy as he is now known is just so cute he talks in a womb trembling voice.

He can't roll a cigarette, I know I tried to teach him but he just couldn't get the hang of the twist.
I found myself more and more wanting to take him home and feed and nurture him.
He told me he just wants to put a record out. He has had tracks on Pickled egg recordings releases. www.pickled-egg.co.uk and with Shoeshine Records.

I was shocked to hear it was only his third time performing in front of an audience. His talent belied his lack of performance experience.

Cicaeda's current mini album is called Empty Space and Light recorded at World Famous Studios by Rob Girardi.
Cicaeda & Caruso are on tour at the following venues

Stoke at the Talbot Hotel
Leicester at The Attic
London 33-35 Commercial Rd

If you see or hear these bands they will transport you to another world.

But if you are lucky enough to meet them and get schmavved up then your life will be enriched forever.
As told to me at three am after the gig.. According to Greek Mike from More Dogs

You go for a ride in the wheelsie (a car) Go to Dizzy Izzys (a bar in Baltimore)
Then on to the Scmavvern (Mount Royal Tavern) and order some schmavvies (drinks) and get Schmavved up You get the picture.

Asia, Russia, Music - Dr. Agranovsky &
The Black Bread Band
What are bands made of? Sometimes of haphazard people and stuff bound by a chain of coincidences. Sometimes they are assembled on purpose, but that's another story. Dr. Agranovsky - man and group - grew out of the Moscow "kitchen blues". This story started in 1972, when Agranovsky brothers (parents off on vacation) had their home open for part-time-job-most-time-rambling musicians and Moscow.. Read more...

Europe, Sweden, Music Reviews - A nightmare at the
Rönne River bar Sweden - Confusion From L:A
By P.O. Rydeström
We had been given a gig at a pub in a small town called Ängelholm in the south of Sweden. This was after the owner of the pub had heard about our three piece band, comprising of two guitarists and I on saxophone and this bar was called the "Rönne River bar". It was in the middle of the summer and we weren't exactly looking forward to playing in a smoke filled pub on such a hot night. Read more...
