Poetry, North America
Guantanamo
by Lee Cassanell
The Lord is my Shepherd
And I am his Sheep

He keeps me in Chains
And he watches me sleep

He knows when I'm naughty,
And he knows when I'm nice,
And he gambles my soul with one roll of his dice.

"I sit here in Darkness in numbers and Stripes,

It's been 1000 day's since I've seen any light,

All I have are the memories of the Life I once knew,
Before I became pawn of the red white and blue".

The Lord is my Master
And I am his Slave

He moves me in Line
And he Watches me Bathe

He knows when I'm Hungry
And he knows when I'm Hurt,
And he'll bury my name in the Hot Desert Dirt.

"I sit in a room with no Windows or doors,

As a Man in a Suit paces round on the floor,

Asking Answers to Questions I don't understand,

While my silence is broken by blows from his hand".

Guantanamo continued
by Lee Cassanell
The Lord is my Saviour
And I am his Steed

He turns when I beg
And he watches me Plead

He knows when I'm beaten,
And he knows when I'm done,
And he follows my eyes with the sight of his gun.

"Paraded at Dawn and Paraded at dusk,
Re counted like Kid's and reminded we're Dust,

For some it's too much and they lust to escape,

So they hang from the bars till their neck and Heart breaks".

The lord is a Rumour
And I am his Lie

He laughs at my Pain
And he Watches me die

He knows that I'm sorry
And He knows that I'm scared,
And He knows my confessions will never be Heard.

"I sit here in Darkness in Numbers and stripes,

It's been 1000 day's since I've seen any light,

Should I not see the sky or the sun rise to plan,

Tell my wife and my child

I'm an innocent man!."

Asia, Articles - Michael Standring killed for being a symbol of democracy
by Peter Standring
On the 12th of October I hope that you might to reflect on what the Bali bombing meant to some people. It is tempting for me to try make a point for the many thousands of individuals caught up in this and put it into to some geopolitical context. I have considered it best merely to give an honest, personal perspective.

Smoke that thunders, masking the coming storm
Young men of Chinoyi disappear
Men and women tortured for telling the truth
Tyrannical regime, that's what they fear
And who, are they?

South America, Articles - La Patagonie Argentine

Europe, UK, Poetry - Mermaid By Carol Coiffait
She swam beyond the realms of possibility
Lazed her days away in chilly pride
With such utter equanimity, that the North
Wind blew her back into hot water.
Well, she was her Mother's daughter
In a Pacific, non-specific sort of way
And she craved the lick of an ice-berg

Europe, UK, Poetry - Shingle Street By Carol Coiffait
Of course the waves help
She uses them for lift-off.
Out, past where they break
She waits for the seventh one
See, it's bigger than all the rest.
She leaps astride her boneless horse
And it lifts and flings her beach wards.
