Highway To Hell
by Nicholas Boldock
The highway to Hell is paved over with gold
And the stairway to Heaven is beaten and worn
The soldiers of justice have begun to look old
And the heart of the darkness is crippled and torn
Where the maggots of conscience are eating away
The skin bears the marks of the lies that were true
Now the face in the mirror reflecting the day
The flesh on your bones began to turn blue.

For the Sun has been scarred by the arrows of hate
And the moon cannot orbit for fear of assault
Remember the people who told you to wait
If you'd listened to them it would not be your fault
Still hungry for glory you head for the east
The infidel stormtrooper marching to war
No wounds can disguise the grey face of the Beast
No political soundbite can level the score.

The evil inside you will torture us all
And beaten like dogs we will bark the same tune
While we watch you direct with your back to the wall
And tell us "Don't worry, it'll be over soon"
Your body is twisted, your conscience deceased
Your vestments are stained with the blood of the Son
You crushed underfoot the idea of peace
And ground it to dust with the butt of your gun.

As the flames licked the clouds you were down on your knees
A pen and ink drawing of hatred as man
Deranged and deluded, insane and diseased
While the last revolution had broken your hands.
The murderous demons of Capital Hill
Gathered like vultures round the corpse of a child
Despite your disguises we see through you still
And we know of the evil you cradle inside.

On the 12th of October I hope that you might to reflect on what the Bali bombing meant to some people. It is tempting for me to try make a point for the many thousands of individuals caught up in this and put it into to some geopolitical context. I have considered it best merely to give an honest, personal perspective.

And who, are they?

I'd spent the better part of my working life in Wall Street, having migrated over on the software developer slave trade back in the early 1990's, so Manhattan was in effect my second home, and I had often cause to visit clients in various floors of the nearby twin towers.

If Jesus had died a natural death, the church would not have had there most potent symbol, the cross or Crucifix, instead people would be wearing the effigy an old guy dead in his chair around there necks, which is not quite as Romantic an image as a Guy in a Rose Bush hat being pinned to two planks of wood.
