What a night. Liverpool European Champions contd
By Mark Ryan
Prev Page

What had been custom was now falling down. And Cisse wiggled his way into a third. Risse showed us why this match was incredible by bringing a great save from Dida.

Shevchenko, the £16m player that makes Didier Drogba look like the Enron of football, stepped up to take the match into the last penalty. Except, somehow, he didn't.
The whole of Europe must have heard Gerrard's sigh of relief when Shevchenko betrayed his emotions and lifted his shot into Dudek's grateful grasp.

Is it too much to say this result has made English football great again? Surely Greece's win at Euro 2004 was even greater than this?
Whatever the result of this match, we must surely be reminded why football is the game we love, always, throughout the shite and hype, only when a pub of strangers can unite in the communal champagne brought by a stranger. Football like this is the hope that we can strive to help each other when there seems no hope.

Let's see if I write like that when Wolves loose on penalties in the play-off final next season.

Sports - Fast Electric Radio Control Model Boats
By Stuart Batley
For some years now I've been going through the motions, like most model enthusiasts do, buying in turn boats, planes, cars, heli's (both IC and electric) but most settle down to one, mine's 'fast electric boats'. I first started by buying an ARTR kit from my local 'Hobby Stores' and then off to the lake and join the club there. On arrival I was taken aback by the speed of some of the hydro type boats, whizzing by. Read more...

Sports - 2004 Beverley Annual 10k Race and Fun Run By Mo
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning May 16th, I headed off to the Beverley Annual 10k run to capture some photographs and do my best to find a racer who may write about the experience to accompany them. Clearly as it's me writing this I was unsuccessful, maybe next year, so you'll have to put up with my scribbling of the day. Read more...

Sports - Great Britain v Australia - 15/11/03 KC Stadium
By Nick Quantrill
Wow, this was sport! I'm not normally a huge fan of rugby league. My interest in playing the game ended when I lost a front tooth in a school 'friendly'. Nowadays, I tend to favour games in which you can predict the bounce of the ball. This game was special though; huge even, and what's more, it was being played in Hull by a Great Britain team Read more...

Sports - Take Me to the River - Carp Anglers by Mo
I am an amateur angler, mostly river fishing as a youth at a time when televisions were black and white. I was 14 maybe, I had my own rods (3) and tackle, a selection of floats, some ledger weights, hooks and line, all kept in our shed alongside my recent purchase of maggots. I always took great pleasure in seeing my four sisters scream and run at the sight of these little yellow .. Read more...

By Patrick Henry
Scarborough F.C. are at home to mighty Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA. Cup on Saturday, January 24th.
