Ten Pin Bowling in Hull
By Dominic Gall

I think its great local news gets through to local people. What pains me is the lack of coverage of the sport I and many others enjoy in this region.

Ten Pin Bowling, I know, is not all glitz and glamour but Yorkshire is rated top squad in the country. In Paul Moor (yes, brother of Stars In Their Eyes winner Ian-Chris de Burgh-Moor) we have the current European bowler of the year on points gained in a season. And he's from Hull! Details can be found at www.bowlingdigital.com
Paul has won the British Open as well as many Euro Opens this year and together with fellow Yorkshire players Nick Froggatt and Stu Williams has dominated the sport in the last year.
Nick is also a former British Open winner and Stuart won the 2004 Irish and Albourg Opens. All are in team GB with Stu visiting Guam with the England under 24's.

Never in all the years of the sport has Britain had so many European wins. Never before have we had a European number one ranking player. AND he's a Yorkshire man! We have three and none seem to be promoted properly.
Our county deserves to know just how good we are at the sport. Our young tykes are becoming world-beaters and now need help to make the next level (i.e. USA Pro tour).
Coverage on Look North would be fantastic for the sport - most importantly, from my point of view, it would make the player feel it is all worthwhile as the county shares their successes.

We really are that good! The county has a strong league program with junior leagues in every centre. They, in turn, connect to local YBTBA www.ybtba.org.uk which is the professional tenpin association in the UK. We have county teams from under 14's to senior and all our squads have won county titles in recent years.
Paul at the very least is worth showcasing due to his exploits and those of his brother. Both are true winners.

Kids, Sports, Rally - The 2004 Grizedale Forest Rally - 4th December By Matt Rudd
The Lake District: an idyllic place in the UK. So peaceful and beautiful - large lakes and mountains which have so many good views. But think about it. I am a motorsport reporter and photographer so why am I here? The 2004 Grizedale Read more...

Interviews - Faith & Football: Stuart Elliott speaks.
by Nicholas Boldock
Having heard Elliott interviewed a number of times on Radio Humberside (usually post-match, having scored yet another spectacular headed goal), I knew he would be an articulate and engaging speaker on any subject, even one I would not ordinarily be interested in. And do you know what? He didn't disappoint.

Kurdish HASSG Lions and Qandil 3 Barrowman FC 3
by Mo with 6 Video AVI's of The Game
It's chilly and frosty at 10 am when I meet up with the lads in Pearson Park awaiting the rest of the HASSG Lions teams arrival. Accepting an offered cigarette I'm told were playing at Orchard Park where we duly set off by car. This week there was a changing room, where the fellows kitted up and listened attentively to Billal's pre game strategy talk. Read more...

Sports - Great Britain v Australia - 15/11/03 KC Stadium
By Nick Quantrill
Wow, this was sport! I'm not normally a huge fan of rugby league. My interest in playing the game ended when I lost a front tooth in a school 'friendly'. Nowadays, I tend to favour games in which you can predict the bounce of the ball. This game was special though; huge even, and what's more, it was being played in Hull by a Great Britain team Read more...

Sports - Take Me to the River - Carp Anglers by Mo
I am an amateur angler, mostly river fishing as a youth at a time when televisions were black and white. I was 14 maybe, I had my own rods (3) and tackle, a selection of floats, some ledger weights, hooks and line, all kept in our shed alongside my recent purchase of maggots. I always took great pleasure in seeing my four sisters scream and run at the sight of these little yellow .. Read more...

Sports Football - The Scarborough Warning
By Patrick Henry
Scarborough F.C. are at home to mighty Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA. Cup on Saturday, January 24th. Before anybody laughs at the idea of these minnows reaching victory, it should be remembered that we knocked out Chelsea from the League Cup on our ground in 1989. Then Chelsea had stood top of the whole League, before the Premiership existed, and Scarborough played in Division Four a brief period. Read more...
