British Supersport Championship - Westmoreland Chasing Debut Win At Croft
By Niall McGlone
Photographs from www.centurionracing.net

Local motorcycle racer James Westmoreland is looking for more success as the
British Superbike paddock heads to Croft, a circuit he calls his 'second local track'.
The 20 year old who resides in Sproatley, finished fifth at what is essentially
his home round at the recent Cadwell Park meeting in Louth.
The result came after the Centurion Racing Honda rider notched up impressive
back to back podiums at Snetterton and Knockhill, finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively.
|
|
|
Unfortunately Westmoreland couldn't go one better at his home round but
nevertheless was happy enough with his fifth place finish; 'It doesn't
sound fantastic after my previous 2nd and 3rd, but on a difficult weekend
we dug deep and came away with good solid points.'
Said the former British Supersport Cup champion.
Westmoreland's current run of form has seen him rise to 4th in the
British Supersport championship and with Croft in just over a weeks time,
he is looking to add to his current points tally; "I'm looking forward to
Croft, as I am aiming to qualify on the front row, and I will be going after
my debut win at my 2nd home race." He added.
|
|
Westmoreland, who rides a Honda CBR600R for the Cornwall based Centurion team
has all ready tasted success in a racing career that started back in 2001.
He won the British Supersport Privateers Cup championship in 2007 before
moving up to compete in the championship proper this season.
|
|
|
James is now looking for his first win of the season;
'There are only three races to go and I need a win on the board before the year is out.'
Despite his more experienced opposition, the 20 year old is proving he is more than
capable of taking his maiden win

Sports, - Krav Maga Self Defence Classes -7.30pm Every Tuesday in Hull By Paul Riches
|
|
Last month I started looking for something different to do in my spare time. I tried the usual suspects, yoga, pilates, spinning classes but they all felt a bit too tame or boring. I was fed up of the gym and all the big guys making me feel inferior. Then I came across Krav Maga, a self defence training seminar being held in Hull.

Sports - Hard (an exploration of sport and masculinity, from the perspective of a recently-retired loose forward)
By Perry Farrell
|
|
No more rugby, then. Played me last game. Twenty years of it.
I had some great times - on the field and off. But what was the point?
You can get into the habit of something and let it become so big, that you
can't even remember why you started doing it in the first place.
I think it was all about being macho. Being hard. You didn't know why, but
if you had a certain personality

Sports - Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting By Cilla Photographs by Roland Standaert and Mo

The world of martial arts has always been a mystery to me.
I wouldn't know the difference between a leg block and a karate chop.
When I was presented with the opportunity to go a long to see what happens at a
Kung Fu class, I thought it would be a good idea - it might help to de-mystify the sport.
So one chilly Wednesday evening a couple of weeks ago

Sports - Sunday 18th September 1.00pm - American Football Returns To Its Roots In Hull!

|
The new Hull Hornets A.F.T have agreed a deal with the Ennerdale Sports Centre, Sutton Road,
Hull.
The Hull-City-council-owned centre last staged a competitive American football
game in the late 1980s, when the city's former team the Kingston Liberators played
at the site, although many people still associate the Ennerdale complex with
American football in the city.

Sports, F1 - Motor Racing - How Pathetic! By Matt Rudd

I have always been a fan of motor sport, whether it was Rallying , Moto GP or Formula One.
However on Sunday it was the US Formula One Grand Prix.
To be honest this was the most pathetic race I have ever seen, instead of about 20 cars
on the starting grid only 6 came onto the track these were the 2 Minardi's , Jordan's
and Ferrari's.

Sports, Football - What a night. Liverpool European Champions By Mark Ryan

What a night. Everything I've believed about football - Steven Everett spoke of it - has been kicked into row Z.
Much will be written and spoken about the night Liverpool became football kings of Europe, and rightly so.
Milan's first goal was, we must admit, a sickener. A set-piece from the first attack in the first minute.
Traore - showing us the skill that scored that Burnley own goal - started as nervous as

The 2003 Beverley 10 k was , at 44 , my first attempt at any sort of competitive running for about 30 years.
As part of a weight loss, and fitness gain, plan over the previous year I had been running about
2 miles a day and felt that this event would be a good test for me.
My goal was to finish and if possible not last.
In the event I found that the motivation
