ID Cards - A Goldrush For Some By Martin Fuller

David Blunkett's latest resignation has highlighted an aspect of government plans to introduce ID cards and create a data base to back them up. They will be worth a fortune to those who invest in the companies who win the contracts to have us all bar coded, logged and registered. Blunkett invested and took a directorship in a company that specialises in DNA testing - he obviously saw this as a potential boom industry, and given his government insider position he should know a thing or two.

A DNA element to the data base is an obvious next step in the evolution of the surveillance state.

Just think of the money to be made by ex-government ministers who have delivered the entire UK population to the biometric technology companies (many of them American) who will win the contracts. On top of this they plan to charge us for the privilege of being registered on their database.

Don't Let Them Get Away With It. Wake up to the great ID card rip off.
