No To Identity Cards!
By Martin Fuller |
The Government is preparing to push through legislation to introduce national identity cards with a bill on
28th June. Speculation is that they hope to bulldoze the whole thing through before public opposition can mobilise. That is, before the public come to realise the full implications of having to carry an internal passport, which will be the property of the state but that each one of us will have to pay for.
Recent estimates by the London School of Economics suggest these may cost up to £300 each based on previous Government computer schemes.
Who are the 80% of the public who are in favour of ID cards?
Is this based on the tiny clique of reliable activists whose party HQ persuaded to put their names
to ready-prepared letters, and sent them to local newspapers backing Government policy during
the recent election?
Whatever your political beliefs, join the campaign to fight the introduction of pass laws in
the UK.
