Poetry

Drink

by Shelly D

Drink in the morning,
drink at night.
Drink in the dark,
drink in the light.
Drink from the bottle,
drink from the can.
Drink like a fish,
as only you can.

Drink at work,
drink at school.
Drink in the pub,
drink like a fool.
Drink while you're dancing,
drink when you're stoned.
Drink at your wedding,
drink 'cos your boyfriend never phoned.

Drink by yourself,
drink with a friend.
Drink in the garden,
drink til the end.
Drink a little,
drink a lot.
Drink til your liver
turns to rot.

Drink continued

by Shelly D

Drink in the summer,
drink in the cold.
Drink when you're young,
drink when you're old.
Drink to drown your sorrow,
drink to get out of your head.
Drink to forget your children,
drink til your pee turns red.

Drink when you're happy,
drink when you're sad.
Drink with your gran,
drink with your dad.
Drink til you're sober,
drink til you're pissed.
Drink til you can't
read a word of this.

Drink to be sociable,
drink to get even.
Drink 'cos your friends do.
drink for no reason.
Drink with your meal,
drink 'cos you're bored.
Drink til you're stuck
on the urology ward.

By Jane Foster
This is 'ull, not Manhattan.
Where you could feed a whole family of six
For a month,
For half the price of a Jimmy Choo shoe.

Poetry - A Spare Five Minutes
By Rich Mills
With a spare five minutes
     I scribble these ramblings down.
Between herding the kids
     And taking over the world.
I find a spare five minutes
It was just lying here on the ground.
