How do I compare thee

By Sandy Jones

How Do I Compare Thee
How do I compare thee to what I’ve known through time?By fortunes measured by that worth that truly is divine.
Not with those words brought by some that argue with the senses;
Not with the type of love that brings a rising of defences.
Not with a way that makes me think my feelings have been tested;
Not with a mind that makes me feel my brain has been arrested
;But with a calm that leaves a wave of deep serenity.
The value of the greatest peace I do compare to thee.

The heart cries out

By Sandy Jones

It''s a mystery to me that when
The heart cries out Oh not again,
And you find yourself back in that place
Where you were once in pains embrace,
But from that spot you ventured forth
And planned to take a different course,
Forgetting when the tears had left
Just how much you really wept.
Those hurtful memories scattered blind
To disperse on the winds of time.
And so you think your lessons learnt
No more you''ll get your fingers burnt,
Oh what an ego to think that so
As in the furnace you blindly go
And realise the scene''s the same
And the heart cried out...Oh not again..

Poetry - Super Escape
By Rich Mills
Inject the god that makes me whole.
That's why I need a drug that hugs my soul.

Brief clarity before dirty wind drags me all about.
Mind now numb no longer able to dictate a verbal doubt.

Perpetuate the cycle of drugs debt and depression.
Quit today, stop tomorrow, take a life on Read more...

Poetry - What is a Friend?
by Scott
Have you ever asked yourself, what is a Friend?
Surely it's a special relationship that'll not break but bend.
For you've known each other for years as mates,
During which you've got into some scrapes and states,
And over time recognise each other's strong points,
Confidences and deep thoughts shared over joints,
Are genuinely happy for their luck and enterprises,
Whilst lovingly empathising with their darker surprises.

Opinions - Refill Not Landfill
By Cilla
What do you think about the price of printer cartridges?

I can't afford them. My printer has long periods of rest between bouts of frenzied use while the colours still give any semblance of anything other than black and white. The very idea of the printer being useable is a treat for the whole family!

Driving - Jo's DRIVING LESSONS
Here I was living alone with my 3 children, my husband having just left us to cope alone. My eldest daughter, only just 18, was keen to learn to drive and I didn't want to spend a fortune on driving lessons, at least not until she could learn as much as she could from me. Read more...

News - Local LETS
I am Jane and am setting up a LETS scheme for Ella Street and the surrounding area.
LETS stands for ‘Local Exchange and Trading System’. It’s basically like going back to the old system of trade and barter rather than using money as a currency. Read more...
