The Cup That Cheers
By Patrick Henry
|
The reds, the underdog team they were up
For the Final night of the Europe Cup.
We wished them the best backing Liverpool,
The rough old port where hope was born,
Where you'll find no trees nor scented breeze,
Nor fields of waving corn;
|
|
But lively girls with peroxide curls,
And the black and tan flows peacefully;
Where the concrete high-rise grows up tall,
And the tarmac trade will never fall;
Where there's six in a bed by the old pierhead,
Scoffing scouse and warm welcome's good as said.
Years on the road I'd reached Wembley, Chelsea and Milan,
And scored at times but not in the stadium.
Wild birds flew towards this North-talking man,
Who at times passed through that Mersey town
Going from Scarborough to Dublin, drinking down
Lime Street and Anfield where you'll never walk alone.

Poetry - Red Fox Blues By Patrick Henry
|
|
I'm blue, but not true blue that way
Of the high mighty rich who took my town away.
Blue sounds of protest stand for those in need to say
Light from the hard left should shine back some sweet day
Lady Day sang the blues are nothing but a cold grey day,

Poetry - The Bastard and the Bunny Girl by Lee Cassanell

1am in the grass with a fist of Tequila
Four eyes on the sky say a prayer to the dealer
A tooth in my pocket,

They say that cleaning's the new rock 'n' roll,
You can scrub your way into a man's soul.
How clean is your house? How neat is your garden?
Do dusters and Marigolds give you a hard on?
But rock 'n' roll's filthy, not shiny and neat

I think that you might hate me, I'm so tired I don't care.
Your opinion formed from nothing, when I wasn't there.

The fact I never dated you never altered it?
