Do my part for crown and queen

When I hear the sound of falling shells
And a high blood curdling scream.


Moving out
Knee deep in sand
Sights fixed on coming foes

I pass by lambs with gun in hand
And their eyes pecked out by crows

All around the cries of wounded men
Wishing they were back at home

Wonder what their friends and families
Will inscribe on their tombstones.

I see the light
Of a target on my heart

And a voice rings out inside my head
"Run away my boy be smart"

But I race towards my killers nest
Whispering my true loves name

When I hear the crack of pistol fire
And I tumble down in pain.

Pick me up
From off the floor
I'm lying with the dead

I dreamed this place was Agincourt
But it's Vietnam instead

As I breathe my last and final breath
I let out this hopeless plea

When you pray for fallen heroes

Won't someone pray for me?
