A Sincere, Heartfelt Apology to my Stomach, Intestines and Guts in General
By Joe Hakim

I'm sorry,
I don't know
if it's more for myself,
or
for you,
but seeing as you
are a part of me,
it must
mean
it's about
us.

I've never appreciated
exactly what
you do for me,
but that's just because
you
do
it
so well, that

sometimes
I don't notice you
doing it
at all.
Going beyond
all the fuckin' junk food,
pizzas
burgers
doner meat
curries...

...and
the booze
and the powders
and the pills-
all
that shit.

You've let me
know
now,

you're right,
I'm sorry,
I'll cut down,
start drinking juice
eating fruit.
I'll get up
in the mornings and
eat cereal
and yoghurt,
I'll keep bottles of
Pepto-Bismol and
Night Nurse
by the side
of my bed.
Anything,
just
make the
suffering stop.

Going for a shit has
never
hurt me so much
before
in my life.
