This is 'ull, not Manhattan
By Jane Foster
August 2003
This is 'ull, not Manhattan.
Where you could feed a whole family of six
For a month,
For half the price of a Jimmy Choo shoe.
This is 'ull, not Manhattan.
Where the salary of a New York lawyer
Could buy up the entire stock
Of Poundland, All For A Pound, Poundstretcher, et al..
This is 'ull, not Manhattan,
And all the coffee shops in the world
Won't make it cosmopolitan.
(That's just a magazine to us, love).
This is 'ull, not Manhattan,
Where instead of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda,
It's Shaz and Tray, Melissa and Chantelle
Out on the piss, having more fun for less dosh.
This is 'ull, not Manhattan
Where people stop you in the street
And actually speak to you, and listen, too.
That's why I live in 'ull, and not Manhattan.
