A BLAST FROM THE PAST
By Del 'Abe' Jones

They are going to drill for more oil
Up in our arctic wilderness
So oil companies can get richer
With Politicians in the same business.

Let's not develop new resources
Of clean, alternate energies
Let's just let them keep us controlled
Until we're brought down to our knees.

Everytime there's something new
That can take the place fossil fuel
It seems it quickly disappears
Bought and buried, that's the rule.

About the "shortage of oil"
And of, "supply and demand"
"Quotas for pumping and refining"
It's the consumer, "Be damned!"

When I was just a youngster
I was a roughneck in the "fields"
And "wells" I worked on and "brought in"
Are still "capped", with their full yields.

I'm speaking of reserves from the fifties
Which haven't pumped a single drop
And this hoarding of that "treasure"
Will some day, come to a stop.

If we don't take the oil industry
To task, and make them know we see
We must have some safe alternatives
To turn the "wheels" for you and me.

We will get bled, more ways than one
If the Feds don't make some changes
Just look back at most the Great Nations
And see how their History rearranges.
