Hey! You! or: Recommended reading: ever tried reading your bookcase sideways at three in the morning after an afternoon drinking bacardi and coke (if not maybe you should)?

By Andrew Wastling

hey che
where are you today?
your primark t-shirt passed my way
no logo
brain-dead!
branded
cripple-handed
sweat shop pay!

hey karl
where's your snarl?
need you here to raise the call!
is the grass so green without the wall?

hey john
the karma's wrong ?
need you here to ban the bomb!

hey martin
where you hiding?
need you here
skins dividing
klan is itchin' for a lynching!

hey bob
thought your gob
caught nixon lying
on the job?
the dime is a spinning for a rhyming!
liberty's now a lightening rod
for oppresses
sing
masses
with
Catholic torture squads!

hey robeson
jericho's floating?
need your voice
sweet chariots rising
joshua hears
your people crying!
hey woody
where you buddy?
mccarthy's dead
but troops wear hoodies
prison guards electrifying
we need your guitar sanctifying
the wine is ripening for a spiking!
the bible belt
needs crucifying!

hey malcom
where you gone?
need black cross
on ballot box!
a million votes have just been lost
the scum is rising to the top!

hey janis
feed the panic
mercedes benz
is economic!

hey pancho
burn the panzers!
the oil belongs to hugo chavez !

hey joseph
hopes not dead
the sunsets blazing
deepest red !

hey regis
shopping precincts
designer fleas spit
fashion clichés

hey oscar
its raining harder
angry brigades
are pissed on larger !

hey mahatma
for what
its worth
one day
the meek will inherit the earth.
hey chaplin
where you filming?
the tramp's mainlining down my alley!

hey jim
where you bin?
acids burning dolphins fins!

hey jimi
purple slim
the pigs still throw the tear gas in!

hey joe
what do you know?
junkies drown in overflows!

hey lev
what you said
was kinda picking
at the head.

hey you
bertolt brecht
mother courage
smack knifed
arturo ui's
intellect!

hey lang
nazi dammed
metropolis
is now
a traffic jam!

hey jesus
when i'm strung up
i sing jerusalem in the pub!

hey strummer
music's drummer
we need a leader not a dummer!
hey aneurin
rhondda's
spires
need a choir
not methadone
blinding!

hey owen
ravens
snowing
is merlin sleeping
in the ruin?

hey shelly
anarchists slumber
dumb hunger
thundered
in their bellies!

hey siegfried
slaughtered
doomed
fox
mustard gassed beneath the moon!

hey you dario
friend or foe?
maniac's sure
the gestapo knows!

hey michael
poor want moore!
françois truffaut
burns alone!
moaning drones
consumer cloned
blood and bone!
who they can not silence
they can never own!
hey you!
our call up
due
the futures down
to me and you!

resist
celebrity
culture
mediocrity!
crap
list
careerist
wish list
zero's!

become
a
dissenting
non-consumer
and
choose
your heroes
from
the
black
list!

Poetry - Heron By Katherine Horrex
Puffed up, portentous. Mortar board tassels
Flapping with distinction in the breeze, a heron
Has with ease cast off his fledgling's first year rags,
Graduating from estuary banks to next door's pond-
A task that has presented him a sharp thirst
It seems, as he sips at the siphon before sniping fish

There's a gig I need to do,
