Interview with John Robb (3/3)
By Steve Rudd
(1/3) (2/3) (3/3)

You are currently working on a book about the punk movement could you please reveal a little more about that, and do you know when we will be able to go out and buy a copy?

The book is the story of punk rock from a British perspective told in the quotes of the key figures from the era. Also, it will have the voice of people who are not normally heard because for me punk was a mass movement and not just from the perspective of one or two bands. The book should be out this Autumn.
Is playing live still the ultimate adrenaline rush for you, or are you kind of immune to that now, given the fact that you've played so many shows over the years?

Hitting the stage it's still the ultimate adrenaline rush. It's a great feeling, an amazing feeling and - with the kind of music we have - a perfect feeling.

Do you have any comment to make about the current punk-rock N roll scene in the UK, and who are your favourite bands at the moment (whether they are British - or from somewhere else completely!)

There are great bands all over, we get to play with so many good groups, when we started there were support bands who were influenced by Britpop because no one as really playing this kind of music but now they all play punk rock influenced music: it has become the folk music of the small towns!
How do you feel about the fact that the classic Goldblade anthem Strictly Hardcore has been covered by so many other up and coming bands, and even by a group of young teenagers who have so obviously been inspired by your music? Is somebody covering one of your songs the ultimate or what?

It's an honour that anyone can be bothered to learn your song.
And what is this about the possibility that you guys might be indulging in cameo film performances if a movie called Who was the Killa (with the film title having been inspired by your song of the same name!) goes ahead as planned?

Something was filmed for this ages ago, not sure whatever happened to the film, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for reminding me!

What else have we got to look forward to from you Goldblade guys in 2005?

Some adrenalised wild gig action, see you down the front, or on the +stage!

And have you any plugs to make/ If you do, the time and the place is right here and right now, so please plug ahead...

Buy the f***ing album - Rebel Songs. You won't regret it. Check out our website www.goldblade.com

John - Thank you very much for your time. The crew of thisisUll.com wish you all the best with your new album and tour.

Band Interviews - Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 22/07/2004 Mad Action Interview By Andy Dykes
After the show I go backstage. Admittedly it's partly to use the toilet, but also to catch up with the bands, particularly Mad Action, with whom an interview has been arranged. The lead singer and guitarist/backing-vocalist from Kasabian are immediately welcoming, allowing me to use their toilet without fear of violence or harassment. Read more...
