They agree that there is some connection between the clothes and the music, and feel the retro fashions help them identify others who share their musical tastes. Though, when they met the lovable Dean Shakespeare; gig promoter, label boss, DJ and all round good egg, this perception did not ring true. They failed to see his rock n roll credentials and only learnt on enquiry, that he had a penchant for sleaze.

Mel's ideal night is getting ready listening to Le Tigre's Decepticon, then going to a gig of the latest new band. She freely admits that if she hasn't been to a gig that week she feels like she is missing out. Mel teases Kat about her love for curling up on the sofa, or in a nice warm bed instead of partying. Kat insists she does her own fair share of living it up too.

The girls would like to jointly claim the phrase smash hits party for copyright purposes. It seems this phrase is creeping into local usage and is being used to describe any party where vast quantities of alcohol are consumed and general mayhem ensues. Whilst the girls are happy for the phrase to fall into common usage in this way, they would like to remind everyone that it originated as a term for a particular type of party. A party that involves the band Turismo, and the correct phrase that they coined for such an event was, a Turismo smash hits party.

I ask them what there favourite night out in Hull is and they both chorus, Silhouette when we play. They also enjoy Grapevine on a Tuesday and recall a night when they played there, to an exclusive gathering of our beloved local music fraternity. The Sleaze Queens have received help and encouragement from both DJ MAK and Soultrader from Grapevine and count them as being like mentors. Look out for the girls playing at DJ MAKs regular Sesh night at Linnet and Lark in the near future.

They look forward to being able to connect with the Tuesday night crowd and create a positive albeit sleazy impression. Expect a lot of full on dirty, rock n roll, sleazy, fun. Some Maximo Park, The Kills, The Dogs, The Bs and anything that is unheard, unsigned or unsung; and a few local bands too.
