Computerman at Fairview Recording Studios (3/3)
By Michelle Dee
|
(1/3),
(2/3),
(3/3),

The last music bought by the group reads just as eclectically as expected and includes:
News of the World by Queen, American Idiot by Greenday, Best of Ultravox (download)
Lost by Manics. One of the tracks on the new Computerman demo is titled Watch More Television,
I decided to see how important this message was to the group.
Paul says if Computerman ever played on Later with Jools Holland they would
never have him playing piano on their songs, though to be fair, he does enjoy the wide range
of musical styles Jools promotes.

|
Mark, on the other hand, claims to not watch television; preferring DVDs instead.
He qualifies this by saying he tries to make room at least once a week to watch all
three parts of Lord of the Rings. He then proudly announces that he is hoping to pick up
the new extended edition that very night. Nassty little televisionses.
The whole group agree that Spaced and Alan Partridge were worth rushing home from the pub to watch.
In the interests of equality I asked about radio also, as some prefer to listen to the
wireless of an evening especially if they don't have TV.
Apparently, Nottingham has a paucity of radio shows that would appeal to these cultured
individuals, though I did find out you can listen to Raw Talent on the
M1 until you get to junction 27.
Advice from the group is that, if you are planning to take a trip on a Thursday
evening not to pass the aforementioned junction otherwise you run the risk of losing
Raw Talent: and that would never do.
|
|
As I said earlier some people don't own a TV, sadly Rob doesn't own a radio either so I
asked him about books he was reading; being young, intelligent I felt sure he must be keeping
his mind active in some way. He didn't disappoint, telling me Neither here nor there by
Bill Bryson was the last book he read.
The one before that was a George Orwell, it became clear that the group were fairly into
literary pleasures and not only was Orwell mentioned again but so was Will Self, Michael Moore and
Dave Grohl: Nirvana, Foo Fighters and other Misadventures (there's always one).
|
I am sure it is a thoroughly engrossing read. Then, to round of this tour de force of literature,
I came to Paul, he informed us that the last book he had managed to finish was,
Competitive Market forces and Strategy, but despite his short attention span, he was ploughing
through the Paul McCartney biography.
Computerman have a website go to www.computermanmusic.com on which you will
find evidence of their growing popularity and an increasingly lively forum.
Join in it's fun for all or free for all. The band hopes to one day, make an album called,
The Greatest Guitar/Pop Synth/Pop Debut Album Ever. Failing that they have a great
song for Toshiba to advertise their latest widescreen with.
Computerman are:
Robert A. Christ- guitar/synth
Adam Pickering- bassist/vocalist and Art dictator
Mark Sykes- guitar/synth/vocals
Paul Hurford Hurford- guitar/synth
Reyes Griffiths- drummer/ percussion/driver

I love progressive rock. Always have done. There; I've said it.

If it sounds great, let it drag on for half an hour is what I say.
