Kid Carpet On The Difficult Second Album, Being Fired Out Of a Cannon and Touring With Scroobius Pip Vs Dan Le Sac (3/3)
By Michelle Dee
(1/3), (2/3), (3/3).

Okay favourite Simpsons episode?

The one where Homer takes psychedelic mushrooms (chillis) and meets the fox, his spirit guide, that one's a really good one.

Yeah Barney Gumble does that burp and this crazy thing rolls out of his stomach...

Are you superstitious, do you carry a good luck charm or any special routines?

Okay a little a bit.
I salute magpies and count the amount I see during the day. Right. I didn't step under a ladder twice the other day when there was opportunity to step under a ladder. And there are some good luck things...well on this tour my good luck charm is my unicorn t-shirt. Every time I've worn the unicorn t-shirt it's been on fire.

Well you better be wearing it tonight then.

But it's had two nights without a wash.
It'll be alright we won't be able to tell.

Hopefully it will be smelly anyway. (Laughter)

Before you go on, any routines, warm up exercises?

Erm sugary drink about half an hour forty five mins before going on like Pepsi Cola. I'm trying to get out of the habit of getting high before I go on stage because then I forget the words and I feel like everyone is looking at me.

What's the best put down for somebody who is talking over your show?
Dad why do ya have to embarrass me in front of all my...all my friends like this? You're always doing that.

That's fabulous. Have you got any collaborations coming up?

( joined by Scroobius Pip)
Scroobius - I'm just sneaking in...

Kid - We were talking about maybe having a go at it maybe who knows?

Scroobius - That'd be nice

Kid - And errr yeah I've talked to some people. Oh, Son of Dave, really wanted to do a track and I asked a guy from Ireland called Jinx Lennon if he wants to try and have a go at doing something.

Michelle - I've heard of Son of Dave but not Jinx Lennon
Kid - He's amazing but he's not really known over here but he's, he's really political and he's really funny with an acoustic guitar and he's like a fat old punk and he's really on the edge; he's brilliant. And also Jetfly from Bristol. He's a mate who's written a couple of songs recently which are amazing called Speed Dial for Jesus and Punk folk disco and I want to do a track with him.
Scroobius - Wasn't Son of Dave in Crash Test Dummies - I loved them as a youngster.

Kid - He was, what was their big song?

Scroobius - Mmm Mmm Mmm Scroobius sings... God shuffled his feet, good album.

People, Interviews - Interview With The Paddingtons By Joe Hakim. Photos By Ray Ribeiro and Darren Rogers
I've had to bite the bullet and start working again. It has to be done, and there are two reasons for this. Firstly, starting any new job means starting at the bottom again, which is a good method for keeping the ego in check. Secondly, it brings cash back into your life, which after nearly two months of bumming off people is a welcome relief. You can only live on luck alone for so long; take the piss and you burn it all up. Read more...
