An Interview with Adam Towse of Filth Wizard (1/2) By Steve Rudd

Fans of Torso Horse might have been wondering why it's been so quiet on their metallic front in recent months. Well, rest assured - they haven't split up; they've simply been taking a break. In the meantime, band ringleader Adam Towse has been busy writing material for a new project: Filth Wizard. Unleashing auto-erotic fury in a similar manner to the mighty Horse, Filth Wizard seem destined to kick up an exhilarating storm along the east coast of Yorkshire and across England at large.

Here, in an exclusive interview with Steve Rudd, Adam bares all... Hi Adam, how are things? Things are good thanks... rockin' as always! You're currently taking a break from the monster that is Torso Horse. Why is that? Due to University commitments of the other members, we have had to put things on hold for a short time. The Horse will be back in due course!

While The Horse is on hiatus you have got together another band called Filth Wizard. How did that come about? I had toyed with the idea of forming a side-project for some time. After many drunken jokes about forming a band based on all things sex related, Mikey from Powerstage Studios, who's a good friend of mine, announced that he'd bought a drum kit. We rehearsed for a while as a duo and soon after we were joined by Oli and Vith. The jokes had become a reality and Filth Wizard was born!

How does the music you're producing in Filth Wizard compare with the brand of metal that you bash out in Torso Horse? The Filth Wizard sound is a bit more controlled that the hell for leather approach we undertake in Torsohorse. The songs are heavy and powerful, while maintaining melody and diversity. The subject matter in the songs is sometimes jovial, but there are also dark edges that delve into deepest sexual fantasies. Have you written many songs with Filth Wizard yet, and do you still enjoy the songwriting process?

We have written a lot of Filth Wizard songs. The writing process has been a lot of fun as it has challenged me as a writer and I have somewhat had to change my writing style. The songs have also stretched me as a guitar player. The whole process has been very inspiring.
