An Interview with Phluid (3/3) By Steve Rudd

(1/3), (2/3), (3/3).

Given that you've decided to call it a day, are you going to have one last big bash to celebrate the life and times of Phluid? The Kill The Future night on Good Friday is the time; The Riverside in Selby is the place. We did loads of shows at The Riverside when we started out, but it was called The Royal Oak: sort of Selby's musical epicentre! We'll be playing a long set with loads of old tunes in. Ginna will be joining me up front while Swifto does the honours at the back.

Plus, Ginna will hopefully be pissed enough to take to the stool one last time to finish the whole shebang off - there may even be a little chord strumming from a certain Mr Robbie G. Support comes from Scarborough's (I think?) Mantra, and the ever present $lash Vega$. Rock 'n' Roll, Jack Daniels and lots of emotion. That's what's in store.

Finally, what does the rest of 2008 hold in store for both yourself and the rest of the Phluid band members? Well, Ginna, Oz and Robbie G will all be firing up the $lash Vega$ train and riding it rough shod across the country - the rest of us will get fat and take up golf! Not really! I have a kiddie due in July, so I'll be waiting for that before doing anything major. But, as I said, Scottish, Jef and I may spend a few months writing and see what we can come up with. If we manage something good we'll probably put a band together that may include Ginna and Oz! But it won't be Phluid.

The good ship Phluid sailed for over a decade and now it's time she rested up in the dry dock of musical history. We enjoyed the ride, and if we inspired one person to pick up a guitar, pen, camera or any other artistic tool to tell the world how they feel, then it wasn't in vain. Wouldn't have minded a mansion and a few hundred gold records, but I have many happy memories and a great back catalogue, so that'll do for me.
