An Interview With Hey Negrita (2/2)
By Steve Rudd
(1/2), (2/2).

Have you had the chance to tour the UK extensively as yet, or is that something you are looking forward to doing in the future?

We did quite an extensive UK tour last summer. This year we are planning on doing a University tour and a tour of UK prisons. We played in Wandsworth Prison last year and we've been invited to play Brixton in July, but the real aim is to do a full tour of as many prisons as possible. After that we'll be heading back to tour in the US.

How do London crowds react to your gigs?
We love the London crowds. Our gigs tend to have a real party atmosphere with people drinking, dancing and singing along. The turnout has been getting better and better. When we got back from the US we did three sell-out shows in one week in London, which is a first for us.
Was the album difficult to write, or have you been playing the songs that feature on there for some time already?

Some of the tracks had been kicking around for a while but most of the material is new. We did play a couple of the tracks live a few times before we recorded them. I don't think you can force the writing process. I can go for months without writing anything decent and then, suddenly, there will be five new songs in a week.

Since releasing the album, have you knuckle down to work on any new material?
I've got just over half the next album written and we're also working on an acoustic EP. We recorded two albums last year so we're pretty keen to keep up the momentum.
What is the best way to keep up-to-date with information regarding Hey Negrita and your music?

The best thing to do is join our mailing list by emailing band@heynegrita.com. There are also the two websites - www.heynegrita.com and www.myspace.com/heynegrita. Here you can listen to tunes, read reviews, watch videos etc. etc.

People - Jim Muir Slideshow By Michelle Dee
It's the packaging that catches the eye first that and the fact you have to slice open the CD envelope with a sharp implement. People, Interviews - Interview with Tokyo Dragons
By Michelle Dee
Tokyo dragons are definitely not like The Smiths, lets just clear that one up. They play a brand of loud ballsy U.S. rock circa 1995, maybe like G.n'R. or Aerosmith with a bit of Kiss thrown in. It's been a while since I checked out the mainstream rock scene. These guys have been going for four years and hail from N.W. London Read more...
