Since the war in Iraq has been reported about, I made a silent agreement with myself that
whatever thoughts about the war I have I will not write about or permanently express in any way.
I think this is because of some type of anger that I haven't felt before and everyone else's
opinion or thought about it seemed to piss me off in one way or another.
Especially any type of media or publication.
The only logical thing for me to do was take my own medicine intravenously and shout
out to the world how much I had an anger for this war, done so by going to protests,
fly posting political posters and most of all listening to other people.
|
|
|
Soon I became bored of listening to other people and pissed off for all the same reasons as
when the media had begun to turn it into another OJ Simpson hunt and trial.
I'm afraid intravenously for me was not the correct preparation, a suppository maybe or
something in my food, whichever way the medication for finding the right way to avoiding
this information being force fed to me from all angles in society was and seems to be working.
A simple form of humanitarianism. Probably the train of thought and views of the common
people and city gents alike could have adopted before any sign of a TV in every room of
your house, let alone electric.
|
|
Call me ignorant whatever, but all I know is that of a sinking feeling when the reports on the
news of this atrocity prevail al around us.
I don't feel that when writing this now that a description or any words I would like to
use could be any different form those already wrote or said.
Nothing thought provoking could ever be written and described to its tee as to how it
feels for each and every one of us in our hearts.
|
|
|
Be selfish for a minute and remembering how it makes you feel to be caught up in this holy
war ask yourself if that could possibly be halfway to how our grandparents and
great grandparents may have thought in the wars gone past.
That simple form of humanitarianism - a wondering what for the future this could bring.
|
Confusion and no real valid opinion. Empathy for those directly hurting, mentally and physically.
A strong feeling of being scared for yourself - what if?.. Maybe we should forget 'the country'
the government' just for a while we compose ourselves to cope with what just might be.
We soon might have to cry. To feel the pain of a direct link in this war. We might just be fucked.

Opinions - Will graduate plumbers be up to the job? By Jane Foster
|
|
The recent programme Posh Plumbers on BBC1 highlighted the growing number of middle class graduates and professionals turning to plumbing for a living. With a national shortage of 32,000 plumbers, and salaries to match those of a decent job in the capital, the profession is changing.

Opinions - Come On You Hull! By Laura Baldwin
|

So our latest award to sit alongside our much treasured worst city to live in the UK award'
is that of the fattest city in the UK. Yep, not content with telling us that we live in
the most crap city in the UK but apparently we're also a bunch of big lard arses as well. Charming.
It seems that no-one has anything good to say these days about the historic city of Hull.

Opinions - Haircuts In The Crowd By Mr. Lucifer

If you are becoming bored of the vain, look at me I'm so cool culture that swamps the nationwide
indie/rock scene and if you are sick of standing among people with the same haircuts,
the same clothes, and the same transfixed miserable look on their faces, then,
you are obviously craving exactly what I am

Opinions - The Moaning Bulldog Breed. By Engelbert De'Moaner

I must admit I'm just as prone to moaning as the next person; God it's raining again; It's too damn hot; What, they've put the price of fags up again!
So what! Who cares? Just stop bloody moaning!
Even if you or I do moan what good is it going to do any of us? We never do anything about anything at all!

Opinions - Life is too Short By The Lazyswede

I sat on the quiet banks of the river watching the early morning mist twist and swirl while the water meandered slowly into the distance, listening to the far off sounds of the city as the people made their way to work
Car horns blowing and the sound of voices carrying on the gentle breeze. Yet although so close, I could

Opinions - Blame By Darren Sant
|
|
I didn't say you were to blame, I said I'm blaming you.
I am getting heartily sick of the blame culture we live in these days. Something goes wrong in the hospital, we sue. The dentist pulls out the wrong tooth, we sue.
Admittedly we are not as bad as Americans yet, thank god, but

Opinions - A Call for Peace By Michelle Dee Clark

Martin Luther King had a dream. His dream was crushed by jack booted, hooded ignorance.
There has always been wrong in this world. From the trials in Scottsboro* Alabama in the 1930's to more recent events in Jasper Texas in 1998**.
We are all guilty. When you talk of Kosovans and Iraqi's you focus on what the media want you to then project that onto everyone, be it ethnic minorities or anyone

Opinions - Life in a Modern World By Darren Sant
|

Some of my thoughts on bizarre aspects of our modern world..
Unreality TV
Is it me or is the world getting weirder? This is a world where people watch TV programmes like Big Brother.
People sit around on a settee watching the telly watching people sitting on a settee. I'm beginning to get a headache.
Now if they all had little cages on their heads
