Opinions
Youth Clubs
By Annie age 13

Hi,

Its Annie here and I have something to complain about!

You know when the old age pensioners or students or really irritating neighbours bother you, saying you are really noisy and to quiet down a bit, well that's what I am on about.

They are always on at us to move somewhere else to play and not bother them again - but this is just it. Where do we have to go? Why do we have to go. Are you annoyed that schools, church halls or just plain, straight community centres don't have a special service so that a certain age can go there once or twice a week for you to go and enjoy yourself, make things for special occasions or have a bit of a dance with your mates?! I do, and it is really beginning to get on my nerves. Perhaps we should all start complaining to Hull City Council for the poor service!!!! Maybe THEN we will be heard and listened to!

My primary school, St. Vincents, used to have one for the kids who went to school there. It was great. I cant remember whether you had to pay to go, but I can remember that it was great. When you first went there, at seven o' clock, you would go up to the hall and give in your fifty pence or whatever you needed to pay, wrote your name down and then got put in groups to be led of to different classrooms and make some stuff. After that, you would go upstairs to the hall where there would be refreshments (drinks, crisps, goodies etc.) that you could buy and then have a dance coz there was a disco! And when you think of it, the fifty pence is worth it, isn't it, if you stay out of trouble, make some nice things for your parents and have a laugh with your mates! Maybe we should do a petition if we get enough people looking at the site!?! That would be great!

So, if you want to say anything about this crazy Youth Club thingy, please feel free to email me.

If the usual annie@thisisull.co.uk doesn't work, you can always try my other one on annieangel25@hotmail.com...

Opinions - Life is too Short By The Lazyswede
I sat on the quiet banks of the river watching the early morning mist twist and swirl while the water meandered slowly into the distance, listening to the far off sounds of the city as the people made their way to work Car horns blowing and the sound of voices carrying on the gentle breeze. Yet although so close, I could Read more...

Opinions - Blame By Darren Sant
I didn't say you were to blame, I said I'm blaming you. I am getting heartily sick of the blame culture we live in these days. Something goes wrong in the hospital, we sue. The dentist pulls out the wrong tooth, we sue. Admittedly we are not as bad as Americans yet, thank god, but Read more...

Opinions - A Call for Peace By Michelle Dee Clark
Martin Luther King had a dream. His dream was crushed by jack booted, hooded ignorance. There has always been wrong in this world. From the trials in Scottsboro* Alabama in the 1930's to more recent events in Jasper Texas in 1998**. We are all guilty. When you talk of Kosovans and Iraqi's you focus on what the media want you to then project that onto everyone, be it ethnic minorities or anyone Read more...

Opinions - Life in a Modern World By Darren Sant
Some of my thoughts on bizarre aspects of our modern world.. Unreality TV
Is it me or is the world getting weirder? This is a world where people watch TV programmes like Big Brother. People sit around on a settee watching the telly watching people sitting on a settee. I'm beginning to get a headache. Now if they all had little cages on their heads Read more...

NightClub Reviews - Fuel NightClub By Carolyn
As Friday night bounced away in its masses I hot footed it along with photographer Dee down to the opening night of Hulls newest café bar/nightclub FUEL. And what a splendicious night we embarked on!. I had the level of fun that only a damn good sun drenched, off-it and 'avin it week away gives you. As the flyer so confidently and rightly said

Places to Visit - Our Samhain Visit to Avebury by Janie Spencer
Before we start on our journey, let me give you a bit of background on Avebury. It is a beautiful stone circle, so big that you can in fact fit a village inside it, as you can see from this overhead map! As well as being a tourist spot, it is both a home and a gathering Read more...

Places to Visit - Burton Constable Hall.
Burton Constable Hall has collected several ghosts and stories from its 450 year history, the most frequently seen ghost being that of Nurse Dowdall, a much loved nanny to the children of the household during the 19th century. Read more...

Places to Visit - A day by the beach - Bridlington Harbour.
This Sunday I was spoilt for choice - either to visit a Buddhist centre in "Kilham" or attend a strawberries and cream party. Opted to go and find Zen so duly arrived with my offspring (Katie and Oliver) at my friend's house (Cilla) punctually (for a change) at 11.30. Read more...
