Response To The Grim Reaper's Article By Chris Wolds

Hello thisisull team, I have just finished reading the piece written by the Grim Reaper titled Response To Arts Council Article. I read with interest what was there, just as I did the original article and the follow-ups. It puzzles me that these other comments have been published and those persons responsible for them have had their opinions aired. I have always seen this site as a platform for free speech and a place to safely express your views on whatever subject you choose.

Yet it seems that the original piece has been subject to censorship and vanished from the site almost as soon as it was put on there.

I would also add that the original piece had a number of useful links detailing how the monies were allocated in the local area, which only seemed to back up some of the arguments made by the original author. As to the following line quoted from the piece '...put your money or creative writing skills and set up your own like we have...' Surely this is exactly what you have done? Just last year you were responsible for a music event to commemorate the late great John Peel. Not to mention your continuing effort to provide the city with an alternative source of information about Hull.

There also seems to be more and more people writing interesting and varied articles covering not just music but fashion also, and a valuable treasure trove of poetry. As for 'writing rubbish' I wholeheartedly disagree. Incidentally, I have tried to find a website with more information about the Grassroots group and I have to admit defeat - after searching for an age I can find no references to them or their organisation apart from through your website thisisUll.com. I opened a local newspaper today to be greeted by an article congratulating Duffy- Howard Productions on receiving an Arts Council grant for £34,006.
