Legendary Band to Launch New Photography Exhibition in Hull.
Iconic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are set to showcase their first album for 14 years at Hull Truck Theatre - where an exciting new exhibition of photos of the band is also being staged.
All promotional photography for OMD's new History of Modern album has been shot by Hull-based photographer O-Ten, who worked with the band at several locations around the city, including Hull Truck Theatre's basement!
It was the first time the band had visited Hull - but they will be back again for the launch of O-Ten's exhibition of OMD images, also called History of Modern. Fans will be invited to meet the band at the launch event on August 31 - and hear the new album weeks ahead of its official release date.
Hull Truck's Artistic Director Gareth Tudor Price said: 'We are absolutely thrilled that OMD have decided to visit us to launch this exhibition. This is a fantastic coup for Hull Truck Theatre and the city in general. We are really looking forward to having O-Ten's exhibition here and we are sure it will provide a huge attraction for music fans across the region.'
The History of Modern exhibition will be in place at Hull Truck Theatre from August 31 - October 31.
Admission to the exhibition is free and available during all normal theatre opening hours. It is the second exhibition staged by renowned local photographer O-Ten, whose work Now & Ten graced its walls earlier this year. O-Ten is a nationally published photographer who specialises mostly in fashion, portraits and portfolios.
Chris Oaten of O-Ten, who is a huge fan of OMD, said: 'This exhibition is very dear to my heart as I couldn't think of anyone past or present who I would have wanted to work with more than OMD. I am very proud of this gallery and hope it gives OMD fans great joy. The pictures show OMD in an edgy new light, bringing them into a new decade of music.'
OMD release History of Modern on September 20. The album is said to return to the band's early pioneering electronic roots, a sound now recognised as being an influence on many electro artists including The Killers. In October, the band will embark on a European tour.
