Hull College Graduate to launch Dance Summer School

A Hull based entrepreneur will be running a Glee style Dance Summer School during August, ahead of launching her own Dance Academy. Leanne Kirkhamwho graduated in May 2011 from Hull College with a BA Honours Degree in Dance has worked tirelessly in order to set up the new Professio Dance Academy located in Hull city centre.

Originally from Blackpool, Leanne is an experienced dance teacher and choreographer and has been working within the dance industry for more than ten years. She is ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) certificated and qualified to Grade A standard in Modern Theatre and Tap Dance and awarded a distinction for Anatomy and Physiology.
During her professional career Leanne has worked as a backing dancer for major artists such as Elton John and Gloria Gaynor, and has toured with the show 42nd Street. Leanne also launched the Tramshed Theatre Company and worked alongside the renowned Chickenshed Company gaining valuable experience and developing her choreographic and teaching skills.

In 2008 she co-ordinated a Secondary School dance initiative at the behest of the Royal Ballet School which resulted in a full time position as Community Arts Practitioner at Bispham High School in Lancashire.
Beginning with a week of classes for ages 7 Ð 11yrs from the 15th -19th August followed by classes aimed at 12-16 year olds from 22nd Ð 26th August.
