Bouncers Move In To Control Audience As Sewell Convention Takes To The Stage

The Sewell Convention took on a dramatic twist this year at Hull Truck Theatre. The two-day event recognises Sewell Group staff's hard work and achievements and brings together teams of employees from across the entire group of companies.

On day one of the convention, Sewell Retail staff enjoyed a customer care masterclass with leading international speaker Nicky Paterson, while on day two explorer Mark Wood spoke to Sewell people from Sewell Construction, Sewell FM, support services and Little Learners.

At the grand finale of the two days - a celebration 'Sewell Star' awards ceremony - staff witnessed a specially adapted version of hit play Bouncers, with the evening's awards presented by the internationally renowned playwright John Godber and Hull Truck's joint artistic director Gareth Tudor Price. Managing Director Paul Sewell said: 'We were delighted that John Godber, Hull Truck and the cast of Bouncers provided us with such unique entertainment and that John went to the trouble of adapting his most famous play especially for us.

'This annual convention is for all of our people and is the one opportunity during the year when we can bring everyone together. We are a talent-based organisation and, as such, recruit, develop and reward talent.

'Our convention is a real chance to celebrate that approach and reward the people that deserve it the most, presenting awards to our people that have been voted for by their peers. I would like to thank John and Gareth again for agreeing to present the awards, a special touch that ended the Convention on a real high.'
