Discover Yourself - A training programme designed with Lone Parents in mind

Its aim is to help each person who attends the training to make realistic choices about how they can get more out of life. We use the word realistic as we know that lone parents face unique barriers when it comes to balancing caring for their children and at the same time making sure that they continue to achieve their goals and aspirations for themselves.

During the training course you will get the opportunity to look at all areas of your life including your goals, your hopes and fears, barriers and problems you are facing, and your strengths and weaknesses. You will also get the opportunity to work with a personal advisor in developing your confidence, your self esteem, your problem solving skills, your team skills, your self-motivation, and your communication skills.

Getting training to work for you - if you would like help finding a training course to develop your skills then we can help with finding the right course for you, and assist in sourcing available funding Getting work to work for you - if you would like help finding a job that's right for you then we can help you with interview techniques, clothing, applications, dealing with childcare issues and so on Flexibility - we will work with you to deliver the training in a way that suits your individual needs and lifestyle

Two weeks - Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 2.30pm with lunch provided Access to a further four weeks of support to provide you with help to achieve agreed outcomes on your action plan.

This could be, for example, further training; addressing life barriers; identified job goals; CV and letter writing; interview techniques, work experience tasters, work trials and so on. The training programme is also an opportunity to meet up with other Lone Parents and to share experiences and problems they have faced and the solutions that they have found.
