Ofcom Announces New Bidding Round Under Community Radio Fund (UK)

The Office of Communications (Ofcom) has announced that the first round for funding applications under the Community Radio Fund in 2008/09 will open on 10 April 2008. Under the fund, Community Radio Stations can apply for funding to support their core running costs. These core costs can include, management; administration, financial management & reporting, fundraising to support the station (grants and commercial funding), community outreach and volunteer organization and support. There is no upper limit of grant that can be applied for; however, the minimum grant is £5,000.

Grants can only be made to community radio licensees ('Licensee'), which are broadcasting under a community radio license (and not an RSL, for example). During the last bidding round 32 Community Radio Stations received grants ranging from £5,000 to £30,000. The closing date will be the 7th May 2008.
