Young People in 24 Hour Fast -Cottingham Road Baptist Church By Rev. Richard Jevons

8 young people aged 11-17 along with three leaders take part in a 24 hr fast to raise money for Homeless people in Hull. Having fasted for 24 hours the group has so far collected over £550 in sponsorship money. The young people decided that they wanted to help those less fortunate than themselves as part of the Churches Hope08 initiative (a local and national initiative).

They are going to use the money to buy Fairtrade food and clothing items in order that their efforts will have a wide ranging impact. They wanted to benefit people locally and globally and decided that the best way to do this was to raise money for the local people and buy fairtraded items for them thus widening their sphere of benefit. The fast ended with the regular church breakfast at which they demolished the usual supplies of toast, croissants, scrambled eggs and cereal and extra supplies had to be sent for. www.cottroad.org.uk
