Hull Citizens Advice Bureau at Risk of Closure
By Emma Smith (2/2)
|
(1/2),
(2/2).
|
Due to the supportive actions of the people of Hull so far and the timely
intervention of Councillor Steve Brady we understand that the confirmation
of the CLAC contract, due to take place on 14th April has been postponed,
however without an official announcement from the council, the union, its
members, the volunteers and the public are left in the dark.
We petitioned in Princes Quay on Saturday and gained over 1000 signatures
supporting our campaign and we received a huge amount of positive feedback
about our service. The residents of Hull are urged to continue to support
us in our fight to retain the services of Hull Citizens Advice Bureau in this city.
|
|
|
We are therefore asking people to lobby their councillors and MPs to secure the
future of Hull CAB. You can also sign our online petition at
www.hullcab.org
just
click on the petition link.
There is a peaceful march from the Bureau to Guildhall to present the councillors
with our petition on Thursday 17th April starting at 1pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
|
|
All Hull MP's and Councillors can be contacted online at
www.writetothem.com
you can click the underlined link to open this site in a new window. You can then enter your post code and this will bring up a list of your councillors and your MP.
|
|
If you click the link which says 'Write to all your Councillors' it will bring
up a simple form to fill out your details, which it will place on the letter for
you, and enter your message.
|
|
|
If you want to help us secure the future of Hull CAB please sign the petition on
the reception desk or alternatively complete a postcard and send it to your local
councillor. A list of ward councillors is available at reception.
If you are unsure which ward you are in just give your postcode to your adviser
and they will be able to tell you.

The campsite was large - and to get larger, over 1000 by some reports. Before long we met up with other Hullees
