Leading Law Firm Makes Further International Move
By Catherine Ackroyd

Law firm Andrew Jackson has become an official partner to World Trade Centre Hull & Humber.
The Hull-based practice, with a strong international client base, has taken space at the centre's waterfront home, Humber Quays, in order to provide a service to local and international customers.

Well known for its strengths in shipping transport and commercial law, Andrew Jackson is ranked highly in respected national legal guides, Chambers and Legal 500. Lawyers from the firm will be available daily at the centre to deal with international queries.

The firm's expertise will add to the services currently offered by World Trade Centre Hull & Humber's partners UK Trade and Investment, Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, University of Hull and Language is Everything.
Rob Penrose, managing partner of Andrew Jackson, said that as the UK moved into recession law firms were increasingly balancing their domestic activities with international ones.
'Companies operating in many other sectors also need to look at global opportunities to help them ride out the financial storm. We intend to use our positive experiences of international business to encourage Humber companies to develop a global outlook for long-term gain.'

Employing 170 staff at its offices in Hull's Manor Street, Andrew Jackson has lawyers advising clients throughout Europe, and as far a field as North and South America, South Africa and the Far East. It has built an informal worldwide network of law firms.
Mr Penrose added: 'We want to assist World Trade Centre Hull & Humber in meeting its objective of creating a hub for business, international trade and investment, into and out of the UK.

'The area offers great benefits both north and south of the river in terms of land availability, infrastructure and workforce availability in key sectors, at a time when the UK is becoming more attractive to foreign investors.

'The World Trade Centre, along with other organisations such as the Logistics Institute and Enterprise Centre, gives us a head start.'
Andy Mowbray, manager of World Trade Centre Hull & Humber, said that the centre's intention to help companies exploit new market opportunities or expand existing operations overseas would be enhanced by the partnership with Andrew Jackson. 'We are pleased to have formalised our relationship with the firm, which is more than capable of meeting the needs of a modern international business looking for assistance.'

World Trade Centre Hull & Humber is also seeking a partner to provide a comprehensive international tax and financial service.
