Projects At Hull Carers' Centre

As well as providing advice, information and emotional support to carers and former carers, Hull Carers' Centre runs small projects. These are:

Carers' Forum

The Hull Carers' Forum meets every second Wednesday of the month. These forums give carers and former carers a chance to air their views on topics of interest. If a carer or a former carer has a comment, complaint or a compliment for any service provider, than they can bring this up at the Forum meetings. For further information on the Forum meetings, please contact Eddie Lewis on (01482) 225078.
Carers Initiatives Fund

The Carers' Initiatives Fund aims to provide Carers' Groups with a small grant to enable them to pay for the hire of premises to hold their meetings, to pay for technical equipment to assist with meetings or to access learning opportunities. For more information please contact Eddie Lewis on (01482) 225078.
Computers for Carers

The Computers for carers project aims to provide isolated or housebound carers a computer to enable them to access the internet and make new friends as well as do shopping online. There is no charge for this service but there is a waiting list.

Computer 'Pop In' Training Sessions

Would you like to learn how to use a computer in a learner-led, friendly environment and at your own pace? If so why not attend our computer 'pop in' training sessions.
You don't have to have used a computer before and these sessions are free. A volunteer will assist you step by step. To make an appointment please contact Klare Steel on (01482) 225078
Oasis

The Oasis project offers short stay respite. If you would like to join in with any of the Carers' Centre activities but don't want to leave the person you care for alone at home, then they can be supported at the Carers' Centre allowing you to fully participate.

The Oasis project can also support the person that you care for at the Carers' Centre while you go shopping or pay bills within the City Centre. The Oasis support worker can also accompany you to a dentist or hospital appointment. This service is free and by appointment only. For further information please contact Michelle Lonsdale on (01482) 225078.
The Carers' Community Development Project

The Carers' Community Development Project aims, over the course of two years, to collate a database of local voluntary and statutory organisations that directly and indirectly help carers and their families.

The Carers' Community Development Worker, Rachel Potter, would like to hear from all local groups, including church groups or large or small voluntary organisation, so as to include them in the database.
A Community Magazine will be regularly published detailing local groups and if you wish to be included, free of charge, then contact Rachel Potter - details below. A visit by Rachel to your organisation can be arranged if required.

Regular 'carers' workers' meetings are also to be arranged so that local groups can find out about what's available in Hull and to meet colleagues who are in the same line of work. Details of these meetings will be published later in the year.

For any more information please contact Rachel Potter on (01482) 225078.
