Hull Company Wins Top Industry Honour

A Hull IT company is celebrating today after its work was recognised with a top industry accolade for the second time this year.

StyleTech Solutions Ltd, based in The Lowgate Centre in Hull, won the 'Best Intranet' award from the British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB) for a bespoke intranet system developed for Ideal Standard UK.
Runners-up in the same category were Yorkshire Water and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. The same system won The Ceramic Industry Pledge Promotion Award 2007 for Ideal Standard in October.
The prestigious awards, which were held last night at the National Media Museum in Bradford, attracted entries from more than 100 companies including Arco, Asda, T Mobile and the Co-op.

The awards have been presented annually since 1990 to celebrate excellence in business communication through all types of media.
StyleTech's bespoke system for Ideal Standard was awarded the top prize because in the judges' opinion it was an 'outstanding system, a best practise example that delivers real value to the client organisation'.

An intranet system gives internal computer users a way to communicate without using e-mail or requiring access to the World Wide Web. This eases the flow of internal communication and gives employees faster access to accurate company information.
David Scotney, StyleTech's Managing Director explains; 'This award represents endorsement for the whole StyleTech team and the development work with all of our client partners. Ideal's award winning intranet gives quick and easy access to information on product standards, operating procedures, health and safety updates and online training courses.

The system as a whole has proved a big hit with Ideal's workforce, particularly the simplified version which is installed onto touch-screens in canteens and walkway areas giving 24 hour access.'

Paul Bayley, Information Communication Manager for vIdeal Standard UK added; 'This has been a real team effort with IT, StyleTech, our software partner and all the content publishers in the UK Company keeping the portal fresh and engaging. Well done to all.'

StyleTech are members of the Hull ICT Alliance which aims to promote information and communication technology (ICT) businesses in the city. The Alliance aims to encourage networking opportunities and make Hull's ICT firms the first choice suppliers for businesses in the region.
