PRESS RELEASE from VOTE 4 PEACE

Don't Mention The War - Blair and Howard

What's the biggest conspiracy in Britain today? That's the question being asked by an anti-Iraq war group, Vote 4 Peace. The answer, they say, is that neither Tony Blair nor Michael Howard wants to talk about the Iraq war.
Both Blair and Howard were dead keen to invade Iraq on the basis of faulty intelligence says www.Vote4Peace.org.uk's Paul Hilder. Now we know they were both dead wrong, but they aren't the ones who have had to pay the price.

www.Vote4Peace.org.uk has started a website urging people who were against the Iraq war to help re-elect the MPs who voted not to follow George W. Bush into Iraq. We've picked forty MPs who are in marginal constituencies. They might lose their seats if people decide not to vote as a protest. We don't want the good guys to be punished along with the ones who obediently trooped through the Commons lobbies and voted for war.

www.Vote4Peace.org.uk is supporting Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs in marginal seats, as well as Adam Price, the Welsh nationalist MP, who is calling for Tony Blair's impeachment.

People can help anti-war MPs get re-elected by volunteering to deliver leaflets or do telephone canvassing. Just check out our website and see who is nearest to where you live, says Hilder. We have a list of good guys who deserve to be re-elected, but they are desperately short of people to help them in the campaign.

Saturday April 16th, we went to Medway on the Thames in Kent to support Bob Marshall-Andrews, a backbencher who is a leader of the anti-war contingent and a champion of civil liberties. We campaigned in the town centre and on the phones. Last Saturday, our support went to Linda Perham in Ilford North. This week, the issue of Tony Blair as war-leader and how this reflects on our democracy is closer to top of the agenda. If you want, you could just help the candidates in the party you support. But of course there are more tactical opportunities...

What You Can Do

1) Circulate an informational email from the www.Vote4Peace.org.uk website, Email a Friend about the campaign;
2) Help on Campaign Days - when we visit local constituencies to support anti-war MPs;
3) OR we can send you a script and a calling list to make some calls from home;
4) Put a Vote4Peace banner on your Student Union websites; and tell us if you want Vote4Peace posters

For further information please contact Paul Hilder, Campaign Director, at paul@Vote4Peace.org.uk
