Community Accountancy Service are running the following short courses:
The Next Step In Book Keeping

This course is a series of 4 days (on Fridays) for those who already have some experience with general bookkeeping.

Over the 4 days we will look at the following:
  • Pro forma for the financial statements;
  • lead you through the glossary of terms used;
  • explain how the double entry bookkeeping works;
  • the wonders of "debits" and "credits";
  • how to balance off a ledger account;
  • produce a trial balance and extended trial balance to include depreciation, accruals and prepayments and provisions for bad or doubtful debts;
  • follow the extended trail balance information through to the next stage of a simple profit and loss account and balance sheet.
Planning For Future Success

Learn about the 7-step plan that will enable your business to not only survive but also thrive in the community. This one day course will lead you through the following steps:
  • Information gathering and analysis
  • Identification of critical issues facing the organisation
  • Development of a strategic vision statement that sets the future direction
  • Development of Mission statement
  • Development of strategic goals
  • Formulation of strategies for each goal
  • Preparation for operational planning, based on the strategic plan (developing annual objectives)
How To Produce Budgets For Planning And Control Purposes

What is a budget? How will it help my business? What do monitoring and evaluation mean? Do I really need to have a budget?
This one day course will look at the following areas:
  • To understand and produce budgets
  • Use spreadsheets to draw up a budgetTo monitor monthly expenditure
  • To report budget variances and take action
How To Manage Cash Flow

Cash flow is king! What does this mean? Learn how to produce a cash flow statement and keep your business on track - without nasty surprises.

This one day course will look at the following areas:
  • What does the terminology mean?
  • Look at the importance of cash and cash flow management
  • Understanding and interpreting cash flow - why cash flow and profit differ
  • The cash wheel - generation and expenditure otherwise known as the working capital cycle.
