Voices in Play - Sunday 12th December - HU6 trip to Hull Ice Arena
By Tricia

Voices in Play (VIP) have been working partnership with many other groups and organisations to bring together a community at a family event. This hard work culminated in residents from the HU6 estates in Hull (OPE, North Hull and the Quadrant) visiting Hull Ice Arena to see a performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Tricia from VIP said; A big thank you to all who attended the Snow White event with VIP - you did yourselves and the HU6 area proud! All around the arena I can still see the smiling faces of young and old - laughter and happiness.
Thank you to all the fantastic skaters/performers and in particular Linda Gorthorpe and her team at the arena who worked in partnership with us for the night. The evaluations of the evening are outstanding and just for a change show North Hull, OPE and the Quadrant in a very positive light.

VIP has gone from strength to strength and community involvement is better than ever. Both male, female and young people themselves are now involved in the project.
Supporters of the Snow White Event included VIP, 5TH Avenue School, Thorpepark School, Hall Road School, Respect, St. Johns Ambulance, Pooh Bear Society, Sure Start, Courts Community Association, Acorn Residents Association, Thorpes Resource Centre - All of these groups have taken part and most have raised funds for their individual organisations.
Tickets and transport were all subsidised with help and partial funding from The Besr Greenwood Team, Greenwood Avenue and Community Initiatives budget from the Northern Area Team.

A big thank you for their continued support for VIP.

VIP next event is the Partnership between PAYP and VIP, St Michael's Church OPE, December 29th 4pm - 9pm. Invitation Only. It is to celebrate young people's achievements during the roller coaster of months since VIP began in February 04.
On-going projects include the Go-Karts Project, again funded by the above since July 04. 64 young people have gained skills from the project in many areas such as social interaction, tolerance, new friendships, team building and confidence.

This project runs at the long established Bumps Centre run by Hull CC Professional Staff.
The New Pilot project, Education and Prevention on Motorbikes is for ages 14 and over. This will run at the 2 Wheel Centre, Chapman Street. It is not an open access session and the pilot programme is full. This project is in partnership with Humberside Police Cop Shops, Regeneration Policing Initiative and The Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
