Made In Hull Awards 2004 - Film makers show support for threatened cinema. Hull Screen, Albion Street, 11am Saturday 23rd October

Film makers whose work was chosen by the audience at this summer's MADE IN HULL Film Festival received their prizes outside the threatened Hull Screen cinema today.

Films shown at this year's event included films produced by colleges, schools, community group and independent film makers.

The event had a special atmosphere as film makers, often showing films for the first time, sat in the audience to see their work on the big screen.
Events like these highlight the need for local film makers and audiences to have a venue where local talent can develop. Hull Screens role as Arts and community resource is currently under threat. Local film makers and film goers are helping with a petition to save and develop the cinema.

We feel that Hull Screens role as a Community, Arts and Education resource in the Hull City Centre should be recognised and supported by the Hull City Council. We believe that any threats to its continued survival and success should be removed immediately. Please sign below.

Uncertainty over the cinemas future is also jeopardising an application for new equipment from the UK film council digital network scheme. The campaign can be contacted at email savehullscreen@yahoo.co.uk also see Hull Screen Threatened With Closure - 16.10.04 By Pablo Luis Gonzalez
