The Hindu Association organises an active and various Social, Educational & Cultural events calendar throughout the year.
These events are always well attended by people of all races, religion and faith, not only by people of Hull & East Riding areas but from South of River Humber, Lincolnshire, and most parts of Yorkshire.
The two most important events are - Diwali (Festival of Lights) held in November and Holi (Festival of Colours) which is held every year in March/April.
Last year National Lottery's Awards for All, Yorkshire Arts, Community Investment Fund, Community Chest and Hull City Council's Live Music fund, supported some of these events.
|
The Hindu Association is finding that these events are becoming increasingly popular with people from all kinds of backgrounds and communities. Unfortunately, as the Hindu Association does not have a specific venue, it is restricted by the limitations of rented venues and thus cannot include everyone who wishes to attend their events.
The Hindu Association is also very pro-active in raising funds for local and international charities and disaster funds. It supports and provides help to multi-cultural events held in the city schools and various community groups. Its aim is to promote awareness of Hindu religion and culture and multi-culturism in Hull.

After a long time out of Hull I bumped into a friend who has lived in Edinburgh Street

- My September 11th 2001
By Mo

I'd spent the better part of my working life in Wall Street, having migrated over on the software developer slave trade back in the early 1990's, so Manhattan was in effect my second home, and I had often cause to visit clients in various floors of the nearby twin towers.

Ask Dorothy Advice Column, - My life is ruined.
|
|
Dear Dorothy,
writing to you is a last resort. I am so depressed I could kill myself.
Last year I spent all summer with my dad converting our garage into a practice room for our band. We had weeks of great weather, barbecues - me, my girlfriend and my buddies all shared this great close bond.
It was the happiest time of my life...or so I thought. Everything started to go wrong,

Aircraft and Airshows - The Yorkshire Airshow - Elvington 2003 By Tony
|
|
What a pleasure to be here for 2 days (24th - 25th August)! We were fully entertained with a diverse mix of aircraft.
Both days of the flying program opened with the superb Red Arrows. Unfortunately, on the first day they had to abort their display for safety reasons when three light aircraft strayed in to the six mile display zone. Without doubt there must be an investigation into this misdemeanour and culprits brought to book.
