Blue International Relief Organisation

Blue International is a newly established relief organization, whose UK arm is now based in Hull, East Yorkshire. Originating in Finland as a response to the Tsunami Disaster, Blue International aims to be an independent and affective response to the needs of those living in the disaster area. Sister organizations are now developing in both the UK and the US.
The current project that Blue International's main operational base in Finland is coordinating and training workers to deal with, is in Indonesia. Liaising closely with the Indonesian Embassy in Finland, their Indonesian aid mission aims to build resource and train staff for new orphanages, to cope with the large amount of vulnerable children left without any families to look after them.
One of the things that the organization recognizes is the need for long-term, consistent and affective relief work that will meet the needs of the people most affected by the disaster.

It is here in Hull that we have taken up the challenge of developing the organizations work in the UK. We are developing links with other independent groups, to create a network of organizations and individuals who have skills and knowledge they wish to offer as part of the relief effort. We are calling for anyone who wishes to offer their time and energy to get involved.
This could mean anything from helping organizing things here in the UK, to being trained to be a relief worker, ready and able to travel out to the disaster area.
The first event that we have organized is in partnership with another relief group based in Hull, known as TechAid.

TechAid refurbishes out-of-date and unwanted computers, making them ready to be sent out to regions of the world were they can be of use.
The group's work involves sending trained tutors out with the refurbished machines, to make sure that they reach the people they are meant for, and that they are trained to use them.
TechAid with the support of Blue International is holding an Information Evening on Thursday the 3rd February, starting 7.00pm, at Relax coffee bar on Newland Avenue, in Hull. Everyone is welcome to come along to this informal evening, to learn more about the work of both organizations.

If you wish to find out more about the either organization, or become a volunteer, then contact Blue International.
