Motorists Warned to Expect Delays Due to Humber Bridge Bash
|
|
Organisers of the Birds Eye Humber Bridge Bash are warning users of the
bridge that there may be delays and increased traffic during the silver
jubilee celebration weekend in July.
The Humber Bridge will to be closed in both directions between 22:45pm and 23:00pm
on Saturday 15th July 2006 to accommodate a huge live pyrotechnic and firework
display to mark the 25th Birthday of the opening of the bridge.
This follows a live outdoor concert featuring classical singer Catherine Jenkins.
|
|
|
A contra flow will be operation throughout the duration of the
Birds Eye Humber Bridge Bash which takes place over Thursday 13th, Friday 14th,
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July 2006.
|
|
The festival will feature a programme of live music, sport, dance, games,
theatre, fun, entertainment and extreme sports.
Organizers are working with traffic management and the police to ensure that the
disruption is minimized as far as is possible.
The team anticipates attracting in excess of 100,000 visitors to the area and warns
that roads may be busier than is usual, particularly during the Saturday and Sunday.
Additional parking will be made available throughout the festival on the
North and South banks of the Humber.
The communications strategy includes the distribution of information leaflets
from the Humber Bridge toll booths and leaflet drops throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
