Coastival 2009 ... Yorkshire goes to the Seaside!

The final line-up is today unveiled for the Battle of the Sands , a major music
contest to be staged in Scarborough later this month.
Ten local bands will fight it out at the Spa Ocean Room in
Scarborough on Sunday 30th November.
|
|
|
At stake will be the chance to support the main headline act at Coastival 2009 -
Yorkshire goes to the Seaside! in Scarborough next February.
|
|
The line-up is: six bands from Scarborough: Fuzz Gun Sniper, Superjets, We Heart Katamari,
Mum Locked in Castle, Property of Dave and Puritan, The Banter from Whitby plus
Vibrant Rain
from Hull, Fire Escape from Knaresborough and Black Jak from Barnsley.
The Battle of the Sands attracted entries from all over Yorkshire and Coastival
organiser Wendy Clews was delighted with the response.

'We had some great entries for the Battle and it was really difficult to select the final 10,' she said.
'Having heard their music I know that the Battle on 30th November will be a fantastic event
and a Sunday not to be missed for any music fans in this area and beyond area.
|
'Doors will open at 1.30pm and the bands will begin at 2pm, running through to around 10pm,
when the winners will be announced. The two winners will have the honour of playing alongside
the main headline act at Coastival.'
Tickets for the Battle of the Sands are now on sale priced £5 and available from the
Spa, Mojo's or via Coastival's website at

Coastival is a brand new three-day arts festival for Scarborough. It will include a
full programme of comedy, theatre, music, film, dance and spoken word events.

Highlights so far announced include a full programme of jazz music and an exciting line-up
of world music performers, along with comedian John Shuttleworth (aka
Graham Fellows).
Coastival patrons are Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley and
Sir Alan and Lady Ayckbourn.
