Wait till you hear the sing along chorus of she's my Nazi girl ... CrackTown are back with a beauty to rival Losing Las Vegas or Prisoner 783. All heil the third album! Joseph Porter was clever, very clever indeed some might say too clever. I will just say I need to read more or have had a public school education. That copy of The Iliad is a sure page turner but at the moment I'm thoroughly lost in the forbidden city of 12th Century China. The song about a French Dauphine being eaten by a fearsome reptile was fun and provided me with an opening conversational gambit with a fellow smoker later that night.

Then a song that ties in Helen of Troy and the state of celebrity that I didn't really follow. Odyssey by Homer recommended reading for this one or for those who like their history lessons more visual, complete with brawn and Brad Pitt the film Troy. Apparently Joseph is the editor of a model airplane magazine and lives in Harrogate. I wonder if he's played at ..... open mic Wednesday night? Whilst in Harrogate Joseph was a watercolour model, I presume for students to practice creating flesh tones. Something follows about Cezanne's use of colour but I'm afraid that too is lost on me.

End Game is an updated version of the folk standard Raggle Taggle Gypsies-O played in the key of C sharp minor. It is a song filled with vehemence and vitriol. Pog joins Joseph on stage for the epic number and create much a do on stage. Keys, double bass and Wob on a minimal drum kit arrangement. The song reminds me of the narrative style of Nick Cave ballads, that or Fairport Convention.

It suddenly strikes me I'm listening to my parent's music; Work for the day was often to be heard as Father prepared supper in a steam filled kitchen for the five of us. Another Pog and Joseph collaboration follows, this time about the Trojans and that horse. It all seems to be a bit of a jolly with piano from Deacon, Kerry on double bass, Paul on guitar and vocals... I hope Pog do that one about Vegans ...ooh tempo change ... push that magnificent offering inside the gates, heave-ho, heave-ho, you unwitting fools ... and now and then drums from Wob.
